?Chapter 1548:
Just as Bethel wavered, a calm, clear voice drifted into the room.
“Tell me, who exactly were you nning to torture?”
Everyone in the room flinched and whipped their heads toward the sound.
Christina stood in the doorway, her hands sped neatly behind her back, her expression cool and assessing. Her gaze swept over the gathered men, and a faint, knowing smirk touched her lips.
She took quick stock: only a few men, and none appeared armed. With no guns in sight, she saw no reason to remain hidden.
Trevor had only nned to fake a ransom video to trick his mother. He never expected Christina to find them this fast.
“How… How did you find this ce?” he stammered, staring in shock.
Even if the police were searching, they couldn’t have located this hideout so quickly.
Trevor had switched vehicles in areas without cameras, taken winding routes, and even left Bethel’s phone in a different car to throw off any trackers.
“Simple. I rely on my own abilities. Let her go now, and perhaps you’ll suffer less,” Christina said evenly, her voice calm but carrying an undercurrent of authority.
Trevor gave a low, derisive chuckle. “She’s in my grip. You really think you can move against me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll slit her throat right here and now?”
“She is your mother,” Christina shot back, her gaze hardening, her words like shards of ice.
“So what? She’s clung to the Dawson fortune all her life. I’m a grown man and she still refuses to hand over control! And now she wants to pass everything to an outsider like you? Absurd!” Trevor snarled.
His father had been just as foolish—cing most of thepany shares under Bethel’s name had paved the way for today’s disaster.
Back then, Trevor had walked away in protest, thinking she would beg him to return. Instead, she turned to Brendon and gave him her full support.
If Bethel had ever truly loved him, she would have surrendered the reins years ago.

“Enough! If not for Christina, do you think the Dawson Group would’ve survived that crisis? Without her, thepany wouldn’t be standing today. Every ounce of that sess came from her!” Bethel snapped angrily.
“Crisis? Don’t make meugh. The Dawson Group has always done fine. What does any of that have to do with her?” Trevor spat, refusing to ept the truth.
Then, with a sudden sh of movement, he drew a dagger, eyes fixed on Christina. “If you don’t want her hurt, then surrender—now.”
He flicked a nce at two of his men. “Tie her up.”
“Yes, Mr. Dawson!” they responded, advancing quickly toward Christina.
Trevor thought victory was his. With his mother as leverage, he was certain Christina wouldn’t dare resist.
And if she did, all the better—his mother would finally see that this so-called savior cared for nothing but herself.
Christina didn’t react at first. The instant the men came within reach, she moved.
In a blur, both men crashed to the floor.
“How dare you! You leave me no choice!” Trevor shouted, his face twisting with rage as he lunged at his mother, dagger raised.
