?Chapter 1541:
The camera angle made their posture appear unusually close, almost intimate.
Dn’s heart tightened. He immediately tapped to start a video call.
She answered instantly. The second the call connected, he could already see the knowing smile forming on her lips.
“Chrissie, listen—don’t misunderstand. Whatever the news is saying about Robin and me ispletely false,” Dn exined urgently.
“I know,” Christina replied gently. “But if it’s fake, why haven’t you had it taken down?”
“Because this is exactly what Robin wanted,” Dn rified. “It will keep him away from me for a while. Plus, it serves another purpose: it creates confusion for everyone else.”
By using Robin’s impulsive act this way, Dn could also temporarily divert Vickie’s attention toward Robin instead.
After speaking privately a while longer, they reluctantly ended the call.
At the Dawson family estate, a servant approached Christina. “Miss Jones, there is a visitor at the door. She introduced herself as Vickie Cullen.”
Christina frowned slightly, wondering what could have brought Vickie here.
“Shall I show her in, or ask her to leave?” the servant inquired.
“Show her in,” Christina instructed quietly.
“Yes, Miss.” The servant replied.
Shortly after, Vickie was led into the bright living room.
“Christina, I thought you might be out,” Vickie said with a smile as she walked forward. “Chloe mentioned you were staying here at the Dawson estate—I have to say, I was surprised.”
Knowing full well about Christina’s past with Brendon, Vickie pointedly asked, “Christina, is it true you are Brendon’s ex-wife?”
“Yes, I am.” Christina answered directly. “Does that bother you?”

“Well then…” Vickie pressed, feigning confusion while her tone carried clear mockery. “If you’re divorced, why are you still living with the Dawsons?”
Though she framed it as innocent curiosity, her implication was sharp: she was using Christina of having no self-respect, like an ex-wife who could not move on.
In Vickie’s view, an ex-wife remaining in her former husband’s family home was disgraceful enough—but even more so when the ex-husband had already remarried. The situation seemed utterly improper.
Christina pretended not to catch the sarcasm in Vickie’s tone and replied with a serene smile. “You probably haven’t heard, since you just returned to the country—this house is legally under my name now. To be clear, this is my home. The Dawsons no longer own it. It’s understandable you might not know, being new here, but it’s always better to ask than to assume.”
Vickie’s jaw tightened, her knuckles turning white as she gripped her handbag.
She had a strong intuition that Christina was subtly calling her ignorant, but she couldn’t pinpoint the exact insult.
This Christina was clearly no pushover. Vickie had tried to undermine her, only to be calmly and thoroughly dismantled. Logically, Vickie knew she should save her energy for Robin, Dn’s current interest, not waste it on Christina, his past.
