Chapter 1429:
“What’s wrong? Still worried?” he asked in his deep, soothing voice.
“I was just thinking… I should treat every day like it’s thest one I get with you. I don’t want to have any regrets. I want to treasure every moment with the people I love,” she murmured, her tone wistful.
A faint smile tugged at Dn’s lips, his heart softening, sweet and full. Christina was speaking her heart.
“I feel the same,” he whispered. “I’ll cherish every day we have together.” He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
Christina nestled closer, curling into his arms as if they were her refuge.
The warmth of his embrace wrapped around her, steady and safe. His familiar scent—clean, warm, forting—soothed her restless mind, dissolving her worries until she drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Even in life’s harshest storms, he was her one constant—her sunshine, her hope.
Chloe’s eyes were red and swollen as she sat by Morse’s hospital bed. His hand, rough and motionless, rested in hers, and she pressed it to her cheek, trying to draw warmth from his skin.
Taking a shaky breath, she managed to speak, her voice raw and hoarse. “I’m waiting for you. You’d better get better soon.” After speaking, she coughed softly, the aftermath of her earlier sobbing and shouting scraping at her voice.
Her throat burned, raw from the strain.
“You…” she tried to continue, but her tears welled up again, spilling down her cheeks.
She hurriedly brushed away her tears, sniffling and muttering through them, her tone breaking into a childish, tearfulint.
“You’re such a jerk,” she sobbed weakly. “You’re making me worried sick about you.”
She didn’t know if he could hear her, but she couldn’t stop talking. Even when her voice cracked, she kept going. “When you wake up,” she whispered, trying to sound stern but trembling, “I’m going to give you a lesson.”
She finally let go of his hand, only to catch it again as it slipped toward the edge of the bed. Leaning her face against it, she spoke softly through the quiet hum of machines. “You have to wake up, okay? I’ll be right here, waiting for you… until you do. I still haven’t heard what you wanted to tell me.” Her voice broke at the end.

She stayed like that—head resting on his arm, whispering his name—until exhaustion overtook her.
Even in sleep, tears clung stubbornly to hershes, a sight that could melt the hardest heart.
The next morning, Morse’s eyes fluttered open slowly. He immediately felt the pressure of a hand sping his, warm and firm.
When he tried to move, the grip tightened instinctively, as though afraid to let him go.
“No… don’t move…” Chloe murmured in her sleep, her voice soft yetmanding even in dreams.
The sound of her voice snapped him fully awake. Emotion surged in his chest, and he tried to sit up, but the sharp pain in his side forced him back down with a grimace. Then it all came rushing back—the injury, the surgery, his narrow escape from death.
Tears pricked at his eyes, but they were tears of relief—he was alive.
When his gaze fell on the girl asleep beside his bed, her fingers still wrapped tightly around his, a faint, tender smile curved his lips.
To him, that moment—her beside him, safe and close—was the most precious treasure in the world.
