Chapter 1427

    ?Chapter 1427:

Chloe’s sobs came through loud and broken, each word barely holding together.

“Hey… slow down. Tell me exactly what happened,” Dn said, keeping his voice calm even as panic knotted his chest.

“I… D-Dn…” Chloe gasped, her voice cracking. “Morse… He’s been shot… What do I do? Even the top doctors here aren’t sure he’ll make it. And it’s toote to get him back to Apresh for Dr. Emmett…”

Dn’s stomach twisted. “Don’t panic. I’ll fix this. Make sure the doctors do everything to keep him alive.”

“O-okay,” Chloe whispered, her tears still rattling her words. Before Dn could even think, Christina’s voice cut through the room.

“What’s happening? Who’s in danger?” she asked, sharp and focused.

“Morse got shot. Even the best doctors in Malvren aren’t confident. And it’s toote to get him back here,” Dn said, each word heavy with worry.

“I’ll call Dr. Emmett. He’s in Malvren right now. Even if he can’t save Morse, he can get him back to Apresh safely for surgery,” Christina said, her voice steady as she pulled out her phone and dialed Calvin’s number.

Dn watched quietly, noting the calm, steady tone she carried. His tense frown softened, a small spark of hope flickering. What struck him wasn’t how quickly she made the call—it was the sheer certainty in her voice.

She sounded like she truly believed that if Morse just made it to surgery, everything else would fall into ce.

That kind of calm, absolute certainty belonged to only one doctor—someone who surpassed even Calvin. That doctor was King—the legendary healer.

Once her call with Calvin ended, Christina turned and caught Dn watching her. His face was a mask again—steady, posed, giving nothing away.

The realization that Christina was King had struck him out of the blue, disbelief rippling through him. Piece by piece, every clue fell into ce—he couldn’t shake the certainty that Christina was King.

But she’d made it clear she wanted her secret to stay hidden, so Dn kept quiet about his suspicions. He trusted she’d share the truth when she was ready.

“All set. Dr. Emmett is on his way to the hospital now,” Christina said.

Dn pulled her close and muttered, “Chrissie, I don’t even know how to thank you.”

This wasn’t just about the favor—his sister’s hope for recovery was entirely because of Christina.

“If you’re grateful, then you’d better cook more for me,” Christina teased, framing his face in her hands and brushing a gentle kiss against his lips.

“Alright. Whatever you want, I’ll cook it for you,” Dn murmured before kissing her back.

They both avoided talking about Morse, keeping the conversation light as if to shield each other from worry. Roughly twenty minutester, word arrived from the hospital. Calvin’s voice brimmed with confidence—Morse’s operation would go smoothly, and the outlook was promising.

A weight lifted as relief flooded them both.

“Should we head to Malvren?” Christina suggested, still uneasy. Her instincts wouldn’t let her rx. Being there in person felt like the safest choice.

Even with a sessful surgery, she couldn’t help but imagineplications.
