Chapter 1401

    ?Chapter 1401:

Bain’s intuition was rarely wrong. When he asked such a direct question, it usually meant he had sensed the truth. Gerry, however, had no clue how Bain had picked up on it.

“No,” Jordy replied at once, his denial quick and steady. But Gerry wasn’t convinced. He studied Jordy closely.

    “You’re not acting like yourself.”

Jordy forced himself to stayposed. “How am I not acting like myself?”

“You just aren’t,” Bain said tly.

Jordy frowned, his lips pressing into a thin line as he chose silence over argument.

“Jordy, what are you hiding from us? Is something wrong with Ophelia’s surgery? Are thereplications—any side effects?” Gerry asked anxiously.

“No,” Jordy answered firmly. “The operation was wless. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about.” A spark of pride shed in his eyes.

He was moments away from confessing the truth—about Christina’s brilliance in the operating room. She was far beyond him in skill, and the thought filled him with deep admiration.

Once Ophelia was fully recovered, he nned to seek her guidance. Her medical knowledge could only make him better. Maybe one day, he could reach the same level as the legendary Dr. Calvin Emmett—one of the world’s finest surgeons. Jordy had always revered Calvin, dreaming of the day he could meet him and learn directly from him.

He even imagined introducing Christina to him. If he ever managed that, he knew she’d be proud of him.

In the medical world, who didn’t idolize Calvin?

He thought that with her remarkablemand of medicine, his sister would surely want to meet Calvin too.

But above everyone, they both revered the mysterious prodigy known as King—the elusive genius doctor shrouded in legend. Jordy longed to meet King, but he couldn’t. Even with all the power and influence his family held, tracing King’s whereabouts was impossible.

If he ever did, Christina would look at him with newfound respect. She’d see him as the best brother she could have—a title he wanted more than anything.

    ???????? ?????????????? ???? ??????????????????.??????

Gerry, seeing nothing amiss, simply assumed Jordy was being self-satisfied, proud of his medical skill.

Bain, however, caught something far more telling. The pride in Jordy’s eyes wasn’t arrogance—it was awe. Jordy wasn’t so conceited as to admire himself.

And then it clicked. A knowing smile crept across Bain’s face—sly and foxlike—as realization dawned.

His lips curved, and in a quiet, certain tone, he said, “That surgery… wasn’t done by you.”

Gerry, who had been lounging on the sofa, suddenly bolted upright.

“What!” he eximed, staring at Bain in disbelief. “Bain, what are you talking about?”

Bain’s expression didn’t waver as Gerry turned toward him. “If Jordy wasn’t the one who performed the surgery, then who was? None of the hospital doctors dared to attempt it. At that moment, Jordy was the only one confident enough to take the risk.”
