?Chapter 1278:
Tears blurred her vision as she ran straight into his arms. But the moment she hugged him, she felt something off. His skin was hot.
From afar, she hadn’t noticed, but now his face was flushed.
“You’re burning up!” she eximed, cing a hand on his forehead. Her smile faded instantly. “Come on, we’re going to the hospital. You need proper medicine.”
Although she was a doctor, she knew better than to treat him without it.
Dn didn’t protest. He simply nodded and followed her lead.
“Drive to the hospital,” Christina told Edwin.
“Yes, ma’am,” Edwin replied at once.
Holding Dn’s hand, Christina quietly checked his pulse. Thankfully, it was just a fever—nothing serious. An IV drip would have him feeling better in no time.
“When did the fever start? Whye all this way when you’re sick?” she asked, frowning again.
“I just missed you,” Dn murmured softly, leaning his head against her shoulder like a spoiled child.
Lately, his gentle teasing around her had be second nature, and his clinginess only grew stronger. He just wanted to stay by her side—in and simple.
Up front, Edwin nearly missed a turn at the intersection. Was this really the same man who once ruled the business world with an iron will?
How did that cold, untouchable figure turn into such a lovestruck husband?
Christina let out a quiet sigh, epting the situation, and reached out to gently touch Dn’s burning forehead. She leaned in and brushed her cheek against his, soft and slow, as if trying to soothe him with her warmth.
“You’ve got to take care of yourself, even if you miss me,” Christina scolded gently. “Look at you. You’re burning up. You need to see a doctor first.”
“I just needed to see you,” Dn murmured, pulling her into a tight hug like he couldn’t bear to let go.
Just being near her calmed him down. It was like her presence alone made the fever fade.

“Next time, take the medicine first,” Christina said, trying to sound strict. “I’m not babysitting a stubborn idiot.”
“Okay,” Dn said quietly.
After a pause, he added, “I’m staying with you for a bit. I’m not going anywhere.”
“What about work?” Christina asked, confused. “Don’t you have things to deal with?”
“It’s quiet right now,” Dn exined. “I’ve got a deal to wrap up with the Vaughns. Once that’s done, I’ll head back.”
Edwin, behind the wheel, nearly burst outughing but kept it together.
Dn had pulled all-nighters, crushed deadlines, and cleared his schedule just to stay in Jasgow with Christina.
Watching Dn cling to Christina like she was oxygen, Edwin was sure a wedding wasing soon.
Heck, maybe she was already pregnant. Wouldn’t be a shock.
“Okay, have a nap now,” Christina said softly, letting him lean against her shoulder while she held his hand. “I’ll wake you when we get there.”
“I’m fine,” Dn said. “We’ll be there soon. I just want to sit like this. It helps.”
Christina let him stay close, chatting quietly and checking his forehead now and then to make sure the fever wasn’t getting worse.
In the private hospital room, Christina sat beside Dn as he received his IV drip. After a while, her back started to ache, and she felt the urge to lie down and rest for a bit.
“I think I’ll lie down on the sofa for a bit,” she said, starting to get up. But Dn reached out and caught her arm.
“Stay here with me,” Dn said softly, shifting over and patting the space beside him on the bed.
Christina hesitated for a moment, but the way he looked at her, almost pleading, made her give in.
