Chapter 1273

    ?Chapter 1273:

Her smile stayed put, and her eyes sparkled with twisted satisfaction.

She reached out and gently took her mother’s urn from the bodyguard.

“Don’t worry, Mom. I’m taking you home now,” Davina whispered, holding the urn close and stroking it softly.

The cold ceramic against her skin made her eyes fill with tears. There was no warmth left. Her mother was gone.

All that remained was this urn and the ashes inside. That was all Davina had left of her.

Davina held the urn close to her chest, as though her warmth alone could bring life back to her mother.

For a fleeting moment, it almost felt real—her mother’sforting presence wrapping around her once again. She could see her mother’s gentle smile, feel the soft pat on her head, and hear her tender voice saying, “My sweetheart, you’ve grown up. I can rest peacefully now. Thank you, my darling. I will love you forever.”

Tears rolled freely down Davina’s cheeks, sshing onto the urn cradled in her arms.

She sniffed softly and brushed them away, forcing herself to regainposure.

Then, with steady hands, Davina pulled out a small white ceramic vial, a cruel smile tugging at the corner of her lips. “There’s an antidote in this bottle,” she said coolly. “I can give it to you.”

Her eyes glinted with mischief as she swept her gaze over them. “But there are only two pills inside. Which means, out of the four of you, only two will be spared from the torment of the bone-corroding poison.”

Her words froze the entire Murray family in ce, each of them struck by the same thought.

If there were only two pills, they could simply divide them—half for each. Even a small dose should be enough to counter the poison, or so they hoped.

But Davina read their thoughts with ease and let out a soft, mocking chuckle.

“I wouldn’t suggest trying to split the doses,” she said. “Each antidote works for only one person. A little more or less, and it’s useless. If you’re foolish enough to break them in half and share, go ahead. But once you do, the antidote loses its effect—and all four of you will keep rotting in pain. Think carefully, or you’ll end up wasting these two precious pills.”

As her words sank in, the four of them fell silent, each trapped in their own selfish thoughts. None of them wanted to suffer that agony again.

The poison was cruel—no sedative could dull it. No painkiller could bring relief.

The idea of living with that unbearable pain every night for the rest of their lives made them tremble.

While they were busy scheming how to grab the antidote, Davina turned to Katy and beckoned her forward.

“Come here. I have something to say to you.”

A faint smile curved Davina’s lips, though her eyes gleamed with an icy, merciless chill.

Katy’s heart leapt with excitement. Believing she would be the first to receive the antidote, a bright, hopeful smile spread across her face.

After witnessing her parents’ torment and hearing their screams of agony, she didn’t want to suffer the same fate.

The antidote would be hers—she was sure of it.
