?Chapter 1268:
She smiled thinly. “Have you two finished your little chat? Don’t even think about tricks. If you don’t hand over my mother’s ashes, you’ll suffer for the rest of your days.”
Terence walked up to Davina with a forced smile, reaching out as if to take her hand, but Davina shifted aside, letting his hand fall through empty air.
Terence drew it back awkwardly, his grin tightening around the edges. “Davina, don’t worry. I’ll make sure your mother’s ashes are returned to you.”
“I’m not the one who should be worried,” Davina replied coldly, her gaze slicing through him.
When Terence tried to step closer, her bodyguards immediately barred his way, standing like a wall between them.
Frustration flickered across his face, but Terence swallowed it down, knowing he couldn’t push too far yet.
“Davina, I know I did terrible things. I wronged you and your mother. Please, just give me one chance to make it right. I’ll change. I’ll treat you the way you deserve,” he said, his tone dripping with false remorse.
The act made Davina’s stomach turn. His show of guilt and tenderness was nothing but filth dressed in sentiment. A man who could murder his wife and abandon his own child for money wasn’t capable of change.
And even if he was, he’d never get the chance.
She wouldn’t forgive the monster who had taken her mother’s life. She wouldn’t grant him redemption—not as a daughter, not as a human being.
To forgive him would be to betray her mother, who had loved her with everything she had.
A murderer deserved to die. If thew failed, she would make him pay.
“Cut the act. Give me the ashes. Now,” Davina ordered, her voice cold as steel.
“Davina, I know I was wrong,” Terence said, simmering inside but stalling for time.
“You’re not sorry one bit. We’re finished. Rot in hell for all I care,” Davina said, turning to leave.

“Wait!” Terence blurted. “I’ve got them… your mother’s ashes are in the car. I’ll fetch them.”
“Hurry,” Davina snapped, spinning back, her stare like splintered ice.
Terence trudged to the car and came back clutching the urn.
But he had no n to make things simple.
As soon as his son’s backup showed up, neither Davina nor the ashes would be going anywhere—and the antidote she held wouldn’t be leaving either.
If she survived whatever Darian nned, she might still have value—her mother’s ashes were the perfect leash to keep her obedient.
Seeing the urn in his hands made Davina’s eyes burn with unshed tears.
“Mom… I finally found you…” Those words echoed in her heart as tears spilled down her face.
