Chapter 1246

    ?Chapter 1246:

“Tell me the exact price,” she said evenly. “I’ll transfer the money to you.”

Ralphy’s gaze dropped. The words pierced him like a needle, the sting spreading through his chest.

She still kept her distance. She insisted on keeping everything clear and settled, as though terrified of owing him anything.

It hurt him more than he wanted to admit.

Other women threw themselves at him, but Davina always pulled away—cool, untouchable.

It was the first time he had ever felt something real, yet the path before him was nothing but thorns—no progress, no hope.

Maybe this was the punishment he deserved for the mistakes of his past.

“No need. It’s a gift from me,” Ralphy said, a faint helplessness threading his tone.

“That won’t do,” Davina replied firmly.

After a brief pause, she offered, “Then I’ll transfer you twenty-five million.”

“Don’t,” he said quickly. Had he known she’d insist on paying him back, he never would’ve mentioned the cost at all.

“I don’t like owing anyone,” Davina said firmly, meeting his eyes. “Especially not for something this expensive.”

“If you don’t want them, then throw them away. I don’t take back gifts, and I don’t take payment for them either,” Ralphy said, irritation threading through his voice.

Davina stared at him, lost for words. Over twenty million—and he was telling her to just toss them out?

She couldn’t bring herself to do that, yet since he refused to take them back, she quietly slipped them off and set them aside in the car.

Watching her remove the sandals and put on her worn ones instead made something twist painfully inside Ralphy’s chest. His eyes lowered, shes trembling faintly as a quiet wave of disappointment crossed his face.

People always called him a yboy, but that was just a rumor—he didn’t even know how to properly win a woman’s heart.

He’d tried every piece of advice he’d once given Dn, but none of it worked on her.

Now, he finally understood that those so-called “great tricks” might’ve doomed Dn instead of helping.

He could only hope Dn wouldn’te knocking for revenge when he realized it.

Ralphy let out a small sigh. In the end, they were both just men trapped by love.
