?Chapter 1048:
“I-I was just joking with him. That’s it,”.
Robin sputtered, his cheeks zing red with humiliation. How utterly embarrassing! Failing to trick Dn was bad enough, and being caught red-handed by Christina made it unbearable.
“Joking? Look at these oppressive terms. Even a corporate shark would take notes from you.”.
Christina shot him a nce full of disdain.
“Well… I am not that good,”.
Robin mumbled, scratching his head awkwardly.
With a swift motion, Christina pped the contract against his chest. “Have you lost your mind? Given Dn’s condition, even if you did manage to trick him into signing, it would never stand in court. The moment Dnes back to his senses, he’ll make you pay. Tear this up at once.”
Relief washed over Robin, and a grin spread across his face. “I’ll shred it right away.”
Robin couldn’t help but feel secretly delighted—Christina actually cared enough to worry about him.
Christina exhaled a weary sigh as she studied Robin. Only he coulde up with such a wicked idea. Once Dn recovered, he would have a thousand ways to put Robin in his ce. Robin was mischievous butcked intelligence.
He was no match for Dn’s foxlike cunning.
Dn lowered his gaze, a pang of disappointment tugging at him. Was Christina worried only about Robin being punished?
Just as his heart sank further into self-pity, Christina sped his warm hand in hers and said gently, “If anyone ever asks you to sign something again, you mustn’t do it. Whatever it is, youe to me first, alright?”
Dn nodded at once, obedient as a child. “Okay. I’ll listen to you, Chrissie.”
That earlier disappointment dissolved instantly, reced by a glow of quiet joy.
Feeling thoroughly annoyed, Robin began mimicking Dn in a sarcastic tone, exaggerating every word with theatrical expressions. “I will listen to you, Chrissie—”.
Then, he rolled his eyes with dramatic ir at Dn.
Christina couldn’t help butugh softly as she shook her head. “Robin, must you really turn everything into a contest with Dn right now?”
“I…”.
Robin started, ready to snap back, but then thought better of it when he remembered Dn’s condition. He huffed instead. “I’m not going topete with someone who’s lost his memory and appears to be a fool.”
To Robin, Dn was nothing more than a fool now, and stooping to Dn’s level would only make him look ridiculous.
Later that evening, Chloe turned to Christina and said, “We’re leaving. Christina, please look after my brother.”<fn942d> Follow current nov?ls on find{n}ovel</fn942d>
“Rest assured, he’s in good hands. You should head back soon in case your grandmother gets suspicious,”.
Christina replied gently.
“Alright.”.
Chloe nodded. She shot a look at Robin, sprawledzily across the sofa, and urged, “Get up. We’re leaving.”
“I’m not part of the Scott family. I can stay wherever I please. Your grandmother won’t even notice if I’m gone, so there’s no harm in my staying here,”.
Robin dered stubbornly, refusing to move.
