A cold glint shed in Rff’s eyes that was difficult for others to detect. He merely nodded without saying much.
Rff reached his position due to abilities that far surpassed those of others.
Seeing that the chief had not spoken, the secretary remained seated. After watching the news, Rff retired to his room to rest.
The next day, after returning from his workout and finishing his breakfast, Rff looked at the secretary and said, “Get me a detailed profile of Rumus in my office.”
The secretary knew that the chief intended to deal with Rumus.
Rumus was merely the deputymander of the Northern Region, worlds apart from Rff.

At around eight in the morning, the secretary had already ced the profile on Rff’s office desk.
Upon entering his office, Rff began by examining Rumus’s dossier.

Rff picked up the phone and made a call.

Once Rff finished the call, he smiled faintly before standing up and exiting.
At this time, Rumus was seated in his office. He had already prepared himself to face any consequences.
The moment he announced ns to act against the Menghu Mercenary Corps, he knew there would be intervention from above, though he hadn’t anticipated the swift action.
At ten in the morning, a group arrived at the Northern Region. After arrival, they first summoned Rumus for a discussion, and eventually announced a message in the Northern Region.

As the guard stepped out, two men approached asking, “Where are you going?”
“What I do doesn’t concern you,” the guard sneered, raising his head and walking forward.
“Halt, we need to conduct a search,” the two men blocked the guard and said.
“Nonsense,” the guard snorted.

The two men observed the situation and said, “You’d better recognize the current situation; your chief has no future…”
The guard said nothing and immediately struck one of them hard across the face.
“If you dare speak again, I’ll ruin you,” the guard aggressively warned while pointing at the man.
The two were sent to investigate Rumus by higher authorities, but the guard couldn’t be bothered with that.

“What do you want to try?” the guard retorted arrogantly.
At that moment, about a dozen people from the guards’ unit approached.
“What happened, captain?” they asked after arriving.
“Nothing, just some roadblock dogs,” the guardughed, then moved swiftly towards the distance.
The guard was brought up by Rumus, one of his trusted aides, loyal to him.
Now, seeing Rumus under investigation left him uneasy. He knew Rumus had a strong patriotism, always striving for national stability and peace.

Although he didn’t know Xiang Yu’s identity, since the chief had asked him to find Xiang Yu discreetly, he must not be a bad person.
Once in his room, the guard changed his clothing before leaving the military area directly.
