Chapter 1707: Chapter 1708: He Knows the Hiding ce

"Didn’t you leave? Why are you back?" The Commander looked at Rumus puzzled.
The others around snickered. Yesterday, this kid was spouting nonsense, unaware of the limits, and even snatched a seat. Now he’s starting his antics again.
"I want to present my opinion," Rumus said.
"Didn’t you already propose yesterday, talking about training outstanding talent as undercover agents or something? Have you changed your mind today?" one person said.
The othersughed out loud after hearing this.
Rumus didn’t pay attention to the mocking around him. Although his base wasn’trge, the rebels and terrorists he eliminated weren’t fewer than those of these people.
"Alright, go ahead," the Commander said.
The people around also quieted down, eager to hear what n Rumus coulde up with.
"I disagree with your widespread bombing; it will cause many casualties," Rumus stated first.
"You mentioned all this yesterday. We are fighting a war now. Sacrifices are inevitable in war," the Commander said impatiently.
They had already basically settled on a n, and Rumus kept saying it was infeasible, denying his decision.
Seeing the Commander getting angry, others shook their heads secretly, thinking, "Rumus just doesn’t know what’s good or bad. It’s no wonder he’s been stuck in a small military district. With his administrative intelligence, he couldn’t reach higher either."
"We can locate their precise position and strike," Rumus said.
"If we could find their precise location, then why the hell are we having this meeting? We’d just go straight for it," the Commander said angrily. "We proposed this n because we don’t know their exact location. Stop talking."
The Commander was very angry, feeling that Rumus’s n, while not unreasonable, would take a lot of time.
It could take five or ten years, and who knows what society would be like then.
People around whispered, the majority looked down on Rumus, signaling him to stop talking.
Yet Rumus stubbornly stood there, being scolded by the Commander with no mercy in front of everyone, feeling furious, with an impulse to spit blood.
"My people have already found the exact location," Rumus blurted out in a rush of adrenaline.
After he said it, he regretted it immediately, ming himself for being too impulsive.
Everyone around suddenly quieted down, looking at Rumus with unusual eyes.
"What did you just say?" The Commander looked at Rumus puzzled.
"Nothing, it was just a joke," Rumus awkwardlyughed and then sat down.
The people around, hearing it was just a joke, responded with curses or disdain, saying all sorts of things.
Sitting far away, Keru’s eyes shed with a fierce light, like a fierce beast.
The Commander frowned at Rumus. He had clearly heard what Rumus said just now.
Now Rumus was denying it; could it be that there was something he couldn’t openly discuss?
"Everyone is tired today; let’s end this meeting here. We’ll continue tomorrow. Everyone can disperse," the Commander said, a bit exhausted.
In fact, the meeting hadn’t been going on for long, so tiredness wasn’t the reason for ending it — it was certainly due to what Rumus said.
Some who heard clearly had begun pondering, wondering if Rumus had really pinpointed the rebels’ location?
Yet the majority still didn’t believe it. After negotiating with the rebels for so many years without grasping their situation, how could Rumus? It was simply a joke.
"Rumus, stay behind," the Commander suddenly said as everyone was heading out.
The Commander’s words made everyone pause, looking toward Rumus.
Rumus sat there calmly.
Keru was thest to walk out, his face heavy, lost in thought.
When everyone had left, the Commander invited Rumus to sit a bit closer.
"What did you mean when you said you had pinpointed the rebels’ specific location?" The Commander stared at Rumus.
Rumus replied awkwardly, "I spoke in anger without thinking."
Seeing him like this, the Commander’s expression darkened. Having been in a high position for so long, the innate authority he exuded made it hard for others to breathe.
"Rumus, speaking in front of me, do you still not tell the truth? Do you not trust me?" the Commander said coldly.
Seeing this look, Rumus shivered, though he was the highest-ranking officer in the military district, now he was just a small soldier.
"Commander, it’s not that I don’t trust you. I indeed have a brother who infiltrated them, but if I tell you, he’d definitely be in danger," Rumus said.
The Commander’s eyes lit up with excitement upon hearing this, even someone asposed as him couldn’t contain his excitement.
If they truly had the rebels’ location, they would save much effort and avoid needless sacrifice.
After standing off with the rebels for so many years, many in his position had wanted to eliminate the rebels, but none seeded.
This would surely be a monumental achievement, benefiting generations toe. Hence, even the stoic Commander couldn’t help but feel excited hearing Rumus’s words.
"Tell me the exact location first; we can talk about the restter," the Commander said.
"Commander, you must first ensure my man’s safety. You must wait until he’s withdrawn before taking action," Rumus insisted.
The Commander clearly was unhappy, looking at Rumus, "Stop with the nonsense. You are a military man of the country, and you should consider the country first. Is this the time for personal feelings?"
Rumus felt frustrated; the Commander was talking nonsense. What were personal feelings? Rumus was ensuring the safety of his own.
"You must promise me to ensure his safety first," Rumus stubbornly insisted.
After all, Xiang Yu’s identity was mysterious; even the top leader of China hade to see him personally.
If Xiang Yu were to sacrifice himself for helping him, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Thus, even if it meant braving the risk of facing the Commander’s wrath, he had to persist until the end.
The Commander, seeing Rumus so resolute, sighed, and after pondering, said, "Fine, I promise you. As long as you reveal the specific location, I will ensure your man’s safety."
Hearing this, Rumus felt relieved, then went to the wall and brought over a map.
Meanwhile, someone was pacing anxiously in his room — that person was Keru.
Keru also heard Rumus’s words and wasn’t sure if what Rumus said was true.
In such an environment, Rumus lying was possible since the people around were extremely annoying...
