Third Person’s POV

Lycan Erasmus said, “This morning, the Ministry of Justice reported a staffing shortage. You can transfer some personnel from the Capital Guard to assist them. Given the gravity of this treason case, don’t let any suspicious persons slip through the—even you might detain the wrong individuals. Anyone with the slightest suspicion is to be hauled to the Ministry for interrogation. This includes family members of officials who were closely associated with Madison. Should any certified nobility be involved, you’ll personally oversee their questioning.”
“Yes, Lycan Erasmus,” Adide dutifully acknowledged the order.
“The Royal Guard and my personal werewolf guard are also under yourmand. As for the Royal Patrol and Capital Guard, I trust you can manage them, especially since Ellen is already under your authority. However, Captain Ampelio of the Royal Guard and Anilo of the Royal Patrol may not be sopliant. While they were nominally part of the Ironthorn Army, they’ve operated independently without true integration. Gaining their genuine respect will be no easy task–do not disappoint me.
“Yes, Lycan Erasmus,” Adide responded again.
She was well aware that high–ranking werewolves in the Ironthorn Army were never easy to
manage.
The army wasposed of exceptionally talented individuals, each with their own distinct personalities.
Even Ellen had initially defied her until a test of strength brought him to heel.
Lycan Erasmus continued, “I’m also informing you of another matter. The former deputy captain of the Lycan King’s personal werewolf guard is being reassigned. I intend to promote Ulrik to this position. Do you have any objections?”
Adide was taken aback. Ulrik, originally from the Capital Guard, was being leapfrogged several ranks to be the deputy captain of the Lycan King’s personal guard.
Given that there were others who had contributed significantly to the Madison case, his promotion alone raised eyebrows.
Moreover, with Adide having just assumed her new role, this move risked being seen as her favoring Ulrik, her former mate, now that she was mated to Lance.

Yet Adide understood that her role as the Ironthorn Armymander would be fraught with such controversial decisions.
If she couldn’t handle this pressure, she had no business holding this position.
Composing herself, she replied, “I have no objections, Lycan Erasmus. Your decision is sound.”
Lycan Erasmus smiled, a hint of intrigue in his expression. “Since you have no objections, it’s settled. Upon your return, draft a rmendation letter in your name. The royal parliament will issue the formal transfer documents.”
Adide was to rmend Ulrik herself!
She inwardly sighed–this was quite a dilemma to face so soon after taking office.
If her bond with Lance were not solid and based on trust, this could well be the first strain on their rtionship.
But Adide did not object. <fnbfc3> Chapters first released on find?novel</fnbfc3>
She recognized that Lycan Erasmus was not genuinely seeking her input. His words were effectively amand.
By promoting Ulrik—a figure with past conflicts with ckthorn–he was deliberately creating a situation to difort both Adide and Lance.
Perhaps Erasmus believed that such a mutually restraining dynamic would provide him with a sense of security.
After Adide left the study, Fabian watched her retreating figure with concern.
He too was uncertain whether Adide and Lance could weather this and the many trust trials.
toe.
Lycan Erasmus could have directly appointed Ulrik without involving Adide. Even if he insisted on involving her in the transfer process, a simple notification would have sufficed.
Instead, he chose <i>to </i>exert control over the situation in this roundabout manner, leaving all parties involved–Adide, Lance, and even Ulrik–feeling uneasy.
Upon leaving the pce, Adide proceeded directly to the Capital Guard headquarters.
As today marked her official assumption of duty, Ellen and Anilo, the captain of the Royal Patrol, along with their subordinates, were waiting at the entrance. They had prepared coffee and pastries,id out on a long table in the hall.

Perhaps some did observe it but, out of courtesy, avoided staring or mentioning it outright.
Captain Ampelio of the Royal Guard had yet to arrive. Adide was already familiar with Ampelio’s background. He was Tad’s cousin and hailed from arge family, where he was considered one of the most outstanding members.
However, rtions between Tad and Ampelio’s family were strained, especially between Tad and Ampelio himself. This wasrgely due to Ampelio’s genuine capabilities and achievements, which contrasted sharply with Tad’sck of notable aplishments.
Under the previous system, the Royal Guard had not been part of the Ironthorn Army. Now, with the unifiedmand ced under a she–wolf, it was understandable that Ampelio might harbor some resentment.
Adide had thoroughly researched the backgrounds of these key figures in the Ironthorn Army, with Lance providing detailed insights as well.
Thus, she was not perturbed by Ampelio’s absence at the weing ceremony.
She was open to having strong–willed and principled subordinates, provided they respected her authority and did not impede official duties.
Anilo, on the other hand, showed no signs of skepticism toward Adide. His demeanor was exceptionally respectful.
Anilo was the younger brother of Eugene’s mother, Sibyl.
