Alex was targeting the kes for my sake? Just thinking about that filled me with a sense of absurdity.
"That''s exactly what''s happening, Serena." Julian leaned forward abruptly, trying to reach out and grab my hand, but I avoided it.
"My father has already looked into it. He''s confirmed that Alex is targeting the
kes. Other than you, I can''t think of any other reason why he''d do that. Serena,
I have no other options. Please help me. I''m begging you," Julian said with desperation.
I observed the pitiful state he was in at that moment.
Back when he toyed with me, he had acted so high and mighty. Now that I wanted nothing to do with him, he had changedpletely. He looked so pitiful now.
It was incredibly disgusting, both mentally and physically.
"Why would Alex target the kes for my sake?" I looked at Julian.
"Because you''re the Hastings heiress," Julian replied, looking as if he was puzzled that I would even ask the question.
I let out augh. "Alex is going out of his way to attack the kes for my sake? I''m just his step-sister with no blood rtion to him. In fact, we hate each other."
"Please believe me. Serena, l-I..." Julian said earnestly.
Hearing Julian stammer like that just made me annoyed. I got up and prepared to leave.
"Wait!" Julian grabbed my arm and said. "That day at the g, Alex came to me privately and told me not to bother you anymore. Didn''t he also warn me when I was talking to you?"
I thought back to it. Alex had definitely warned Julian, but iming that Alex was targeting the kes for my sake was too much of a stretch.
I frowned and looked at Julian. "Isn''t it possible that Alex is doing all of this because you offended him? Alex was the biggest figure at the g. I was hispanion, but you made all those inappropriatements."
"I..." Julian seemed to be at a loss for words.
"Serena, I know that I was wrong now. My father scolded me when I got back. I''m begging you, could you please help me talk to Alex?" Julian pleaded.
I picked up my bag in a huff. "Julian, your problems are none of my business. Alex won''t listen to me either. You''re the one who offended him, but you''re trying to me it on me instead?"
As I prepared to leave, Julian grabbed my hand again. "Serena we were together for so many years. Are you really going to be so cold to me? Who knows? Maybe we''ll be
family one day..."
I red at Julian. "Stop right there! You and I are already done. We''ve gone our
separate ways. There''s no way we''ll ever be family."
"Is there really no chance for us anymore?" Julian said tearfully.
"There isn''t. Take care of yourself," I said.
I was just about to leave again when Julian suddenly grabbed a knife on the table and shouted, "You won''t
reconcile with me, and even my
family hates me now. If that''s the case, what''s the point of living anymore?"
He sliced his wrist with the knife before I could even react. Blood started to pour out.
After panicking for a moment, I frowned slightly. "Julian, you''ve really gone crazy."
I quickly called the emergency number. The restaurant staff quickly rushed over
as well, but they didn''t dare to step forward when they saw that the blood wasn''t stopping.
I got a towel from a waiter before I went over and lifted Julian''s arm.
Julian''s face was turning pale from the blood loss.
"Serena, I knew you still cared about me. If you didn''t, why would you be
bandaging me right now?" Julian''s smile was unsettling.
I felt exasperated, but I chose to stay silent.
Julian''s behavior was too extreme and unpredictable. I didn''t know what other crazy stunt he would pull if I provoked him. For now, I had to keep him stable until the ambnce arrived.
I waited for about ten minutes. Julian seemed to be on the verge of fainting when the ambnce finally arrived.
