"I''m fine," Scott responded.
Controlling a water sphere, he used it to bind one of the therians and suspend him in front of Fiy. "Inject him with the reagent."
Fiy opened the case and took out a vial. "It''s not an injection. It''s taken orally."
He gripped the therian''s jaw and forced the liquid down his throat.
Scott continued selecting therians and bringing them to Fiy, but not all of them had beastial DNA that could fuse with the natural elements within Ster Ambers.
In the end, less than half of those who drank the reagent gained ExoAbilities. The rest simply had the toxins purged from their system and returned to normal.
"What''s going on? Has my mind essence evolved?" one of the therians eximed despite his confusion. He was controlling droplets of water in the air.
"Can you all feel this, too? I think I''m resonating with the earth and stone!" Another therian''s eyes gleamed with excitement as sand and stones began swirling around him.
"Why don''t I feel anything?"
"Me neither..."
The therians who had taken the reagent stirred back to consciousness. To prepare for the worst, Scott didn''t give the reagent to those suspected to be Jamari''s men. He restrained them with his ExoAbility instead.
Among the newly awakened therians, some possessed Woodmold ability, so they were able to construct sturdier holding cells. Combined with Scott''s Tideweaving ability, the containment was more than sufficient.
There weren''t a lot of reagents left, and using it on Jamari''s people could backfire if any of them ended up developing ExoAbilities.
Scott could sense that the tide was about to turn in Interster Alliance. With these ExoAbilities, the old system based on mind essence might soon lose its relevance.
"Scott."
Before Scott could finish dealing with the captives, Sylvester trudged toward him. He was too old to withstand the fusion of beastial DNA and natural elements, and he''d suffered internal injuries. Nevertheless, he was healed by the reagent thanks to Analise''s blood within it.
Now, Sylvester was still an ordinary therian.
Having seen Sean send Scott flying into the rear of the starship with a single blow, Sylvester stepped closer amine Scott. "How are y feeling?"
"Father..." Scott''s gaze followed Sylvester as he shifted toward him.
This was the first time Sylvester was concerned about him since his mother''s death. Was it because of Sean?
Scott pressed his lips together and nced at Sean, who was still unconscious nearby.
Sean was already weak to begin
with, and the battle had taken a huge toll on him. His face was ghastly
pale and blood was oozing out of wounds across his body.
Sylvester followed his gaze. His eyes reddened when he saw Sean''s condition.
"In our family, only Sean is on your side..." Sylvester sighed.
"I know." Scott nodded.
"I''ve heard more or less about what happened earlier. Since it wasn''t his fault, you should still treat him as your brother," Sylvester said. "As for your mother... We can''t me Sean, either. He was possessed, soall he could do was be forced to watch himself kill his mother with the ster..."
His voice quivered as he spoke, and Scott was immediately reminded of the moment his mother died.
He remained silent, recalling the anguish in Sean''s eyes-though it had vanished in an instant.
"I understand, Father." He sighed. "But right now, what matters most is Sean''s condition."
Scott walked toward Sean with Sylvester trailing after him.
"We''ve already given him the reagent, but he didn''t react as violently as the others. It may be because his mind and body had been utterly drained..."
Scott took the medical kit Derek had brought over and began tending to Sean''s wounds.
With trembling hands, Sylvester also stepped up to help.
