"So, what you''re saying is..." Scott trailed off, subtly curling his lips. "You and your third dad really just thought that the members of The Reimers were reagent sellers, and you guys just wanted to buy theirtest product."
"Exactly!" Hector nodded firmly. "I swear on my mental essence. If I lied to you, may heaven forbid me from making a breakthrough in my mental essence!"
"Did you get it, then? Did you drink it?" Analise asked again.
"I got it, and I''ve ingested it." Hector nodded. "The reagent actually works. I have made a breakthrough to A-grade, and my mental essence is S-grade now."
Looking at Analise, Hector noticed the grave seriousness on her face.
"A reagent that helps make a breakthrough in mental essence. What''s even crazier is that The Reimers developed it." Analise pinched her chin, her mind racing. No matter how she looked at it, the reagent was bad news.
"Do a lot of people buy this stuff?" she asked again.
Hector pondered it before he responded, "Not a clue. Many people were buying it when we did, though. Almost everyone from every single alliance we ever knew."
"What about now?" Scott''s gaze grew cold.
"Of course, I don''t buy it anymore. Ever since Cosmoseek announced The Reimers'' traits, Third Dad and I knew which organization they reported to. So, we cut them off."
Hector lowered his gaze and added, "We honestly aren''t in cahoots with The Reimers."
"Is that so? Where did the injuries on your bodye from, then?" Scott stared at Hector deliberately.
The w marks on Hector''s body were too conspicuous. His hands, neck, and even face were covered in them. Barring any surprises, there should be plenty of injuries all over his body.
The w marks on his face were rtively shallow. Meanwhile, it was obvious that the ones on his hand and neck were a mixture of old and new injuries.
Hector pursed his lips as he hesitated.
"The mess at the containment facility didn''t turn into a disaster. I believe the Khielson family will be able to keep you from being sent to the dungeon cells.
"However, conspiring with The Reimers meant everyone in your family would be put under a thorough investigation.
"Once your crimes are confirmed, even your females'' movements will be restricted. They will be monitored by specialized personnel and prohibited from taking a step out of their houses," Scott concluded.
He grabbed the ss of water on his work desk and took a sip. "I believe you know very well about this, Mr. Khielson.
"Vera had just formed a contract
with a male she loved. It isn''t too
crazy to think that they would have a
child soon. You wouldn''t want a newborn Khielson to be sent to a lower-ss, would you?"
"No!" Hector immediately raised his head. "My injuries are also caused by the new reagent!"
Analise frowned, her eyes darkening. As expected, it was bad news.
"Are you certain? Can I take a look at the other injuries on you?" She approached him and reached out.
Grabbing his wrist, she carefully sent her senses into his body once more. There were still no signs of Vexoth venom, though.
"Yeah." Hector felt a little embarrassed from having his wrist held by a female, but he didn''t shake her hand away.
He continued, "After I drank the reagent, I could feel my mental essence expanding rapidly. Moreover, I made the breakthrough in less than three days afterward."
Hector probably recalled the thrill he felt when his mental essence skyrocketed and the ensuing breakthrough took ce. He even smiled at the recollection.
When he said his next words, however, the smile quickly faded.
"But I felt itchy a week after I made the breakthrough. At first, it was just my furs, I thought it was because I sweat from the hot weather. showered three times a day, but the itch never went away.
"Afterward, the itch became especially worse in the area around my chest. I had no choice but to scratch at it. That said, the itch would go away very quickly.
"The thing is, the itchsted longer and longer when it came back several dayster, and the itch on my body became more and more intense.
"When Third Dad learned about it, he searched for doctors high and low. At some point, he got medication from God-knows-where, and itpletely stopped the
itch.
"Regrettably, it only cured the
symptom, not the root of the
problem. The itch would return and
be unbearable every now and
then. But he still had to buy the medication and let me drink it to fight the itch.
"What''s more..." Hector trailed off, lowering his head.
He then continued, "What''s more, I would asionally go into a frenzy and lose
my mind. Then, I would attack everyone around us indiscriminately.
"That was why we kept going out recently. We were worried that I would go into a frenzy in Stormw Alliance''s base and get us locked up in chains."
"Oh?" Scott raised an eyebrow. "How do you make sure that the others don''t speak about this? Your third dad couldn''t have brought you under control by himself when you were frenzied, could he?"
Hector lowered his head, avoiding Scott''s gaze. "His men worked for him. So, they kept their mouths shut."
