Chapter 88

"Ms. Chamber, with you around, it''s only natural that I want topete fairly with you. But honestly, it''s clear Scott likes you," Vera said softly, with her eyes lowered. "He didn''t even give me a chance topete."

From the front seat, Fiy spoke up bluntly, "Didn''t Scott say a long time ago that he didn''t want to be your guardian?"

"Yeah... That''s when I started to suspect he probably didn''t like me. Rescuing me back then was probably just out of convenience. But back then, you weren''t in the picture, Ms. Chamber.

"I thought I still stood a chance, which is why I kept finding excuses to see him from time to time. When Ms. Chamber appeared, I heard that Scott wanted to be your guardian. I was so jealous I almost went crazy, and I was overwhelmed by sadness..."

Vera kept going, almost as if she were talking to herself.

"Back then, Vera locked herself in the room and refused to eat or drink for a few days," the driver in the front suddenly said.

There was a note of affection and concern in his voice. He was probably Vera''s guardian or one of her mates.

"Why are you telling Ms. Chamber that?" Vera scooted forward and yfully tugged on the driver''s ear, feigning irritation.

"I''m just telling the truth... We were all worried sick those days," the therian replied, sounding a little aggrieved.

"Sheesh, why bring up all that? I''m here to be friends with Ms. Chamber now." Vera waved it off with a smile.

"Ever since I saw that video of Ms. Chamber calming multiple males at once on Cosmoseek the other day, I knew I couldn''tpare. So, I gave up on Scott. I already have several mates anyway. I''m not going to get hung up over one guy." Vera was all smiles. It was as if she had truly let it all go.

"But Ms. Chamber, what''s the deal with that robot female? Why did she seem to have self-awareness?

"My brother said that even the one in the Ethereal Fang Alliance didn''t show anything like that. It just ran off like the others—probably following somemand."

Vera leaned her hands on the back of the driver''s seat, mindlessly pulling strands of hair from the therian driver.

"I''m not sure either," Analise replied, shaking her head. "We''ll have to wait and see what the security force says."

Thinking about it made Analise a little uneasy.

That female who looked so much like Scott''s mother had she been infected with Vexoth venom?

    When Ophir had still possessed

Sean''s body, it was stored in the et

pocket drive along with the others by Gideon. That meant the female

    hadn''t been activated yet.

They had no idea if Ophir was able to control that robot whilecking a host. If he

could do that, the security force might be in for trouble.

Even though Ophir and the transmigrator Sean had temporarily separated from the original Sean''s body, there was no guarantee they wouldn''t return.

Echo had said it too-Ophir was incredibly cunning. Even the top-tier systems from the main god had failed to capture it.

This time, Echo was likely heading back to consult with the main god to find a way to contain Ophir for good.

    "We''re here."

The car pulled to a stop in front of a building, and Vera tugged on Analise''s hand to lead her out.

Analise nced down at the hand Vera was holding, feeling a little ufortable. Vera was being overly enthusiastic, and Analise was still on guard around her. It made things feel... awkward.

"What''s wrong, Ms. Chamber? Are you not feeling well?" Vera blinked, staring at her with a concerned look.

"No." Analise pulled her hand back gently. "I''m just not used to holding hands with others."

"Oh? Ah... I see." Vera chuckled.

Pure-human females only ranked slightly above males in the societal hierarchy. Vera had to admit that she hadn''t thought much of Analise at first.

It wasn''t until she saw Analise absorbing Ster Amber''s mind essence while simultaneously calming multiple males at the same time that she truly saw Analise in a

    new light.

That was when she understood she could never surpass Analise, and she finally

let go of her feelings for Scott.

After all, she already had plenty of people who loved her. She didn''t need to cling to Scott.

Besides, Vera thought her males were excellent too.
