Even before Hogan suggested it, Amara had already nned to see Celeste.
She''d always been curious about the incident where Celeste supposedly set her up with Hogan. Deep down, she doubted Celeste was really behind it. After all, while Celeste might have had a reason to go after her, there was absolutely no reason to target Hogan-they had a good rtionship.
She said, "I can meet her. I''m already out. Where are you guys?"
"We''re near Galleria Lane,” Hogan replied. "You pick the ce and we''lle find you."
Amara wasn''t far from Galleria Lane herself. She thought for a moment, recalling the dessert shop she often visited there—and was suddenly craving something sweet. She gave them the address and then took a cab to meet up with Hogan and Celeste.
Soon, Amara arrived at the dessert shop and met up with Hogan and Celeste outside.
Amara froze for a moment when she saw Celeste.
Celeste looked much thinner than thest time they met-she must''ve lost about ten pounds—and herplexion was pale, giving her a rather haggard look. What had happened to her? Had things not gone well overseas?
When Celeste saw Amara, she also looked her up and down.
Was it just her imagination, or did Amara look even more beautiful than before, with a healthy glow?
Celeste''s gaze lingered for a moment on Amara''s stomach. Amara was wearing a slightly fitted dress today, and her pregnancy was obvious.
Celeste''s eyes stayed on Amara''s belly for several seconds.
So this was Finnian''s child? The idea struck her as strange; she nced again before saying, "Let''s go in. I''ve heard good things about the cake here and I''m actually pretty hungry. Let''s eat first."
The three of them went inside. Amara and Celeste each ordered a small cake. Hogan, who wasn''t into sweets, settled on a cup of coffee, sipping it slowly.
"What did you want to talk to me about?"
Amara didn''t ask Celeste why she hade back. She ate her red velvet cake casually, sounding almost indifferent.
Celeste
wasn''ted her lips. "I just
wanted to clear something up. I
one who set up you and
Hogan Lended up taking the fall for someone else. It was Liliana
Liliana?
Amara was taken aback.
She had already suspected that Celeste wasn''t really the mastermind, but she never imagined it had been Liliana.
But now, knowing about Liliana''s fake pregnancy, it all started to make sense.
Back then, Ho?an had discovered Liliana''s secret and caught her pretending to be pregnant, so it made sense that Liliana, wanting payback, would plot against both t both Hogan and Amara, framing them into sleeping together. It was a "one stone, two birds" situation-the kind that really did harm to both of them. Thinking about it now, Liliana was truly vicious.
Luckily, Amara had been pregnant at the time and hadn''t drunk the fruit wine Mr.
Kevin Everly had given her. Otherwise...
The thought sent a chill down her spine.
Snapping out of her reverie, she nced at Celeste again. She was genuinely curious as to how Liliana had persuaded Celeste to take the me even to the point of leaving the country willingly. Had Liliana been holding something over Céleste?
But Amara didn''t ask; that was Celeste''s private business.
She said, "I''d already figured it wasn''t you you never had a reason to hurt Hogan. I
just didn''t expect you would end up taking the me for Liliana.”
