Chapter 747

He had always assumed Amara was timid and meek-a woman who never spoke up even when picked on, let alone someone who would stand up for herself or confront others.

But as he got to know her better, he realized that Amara actually had a strong sense of independence and could be quite formidable when it mattered most.

Thinking about it now, it made sense. If she were truly weak to her very core, how could she have be such close friends with Elysia? Elysia was the type who wouldn''t give the time of day to someone she looked down on.

Seeing Amara standing at the doorway waiting for him to leave, he stubbornly stood his ground, looking as if it was only natural for him to stay there. He said, "This is Elysia''s home, which basically makes it my home, too. If anyone is leaving, it should be you two."

So he wanted to y the marriagew card?

Amara wasn''t intimidated by him at all. She gave a coldugh and retorted, "Elysia bought this ce before she married you. It''s her personal property, so don''t try to im any ownership. Now, get out!"

    Dorian was left speechless.

He red at Amara, gritting his teeth. Clearly, this woman was nothing like the weak pushover he''d imagined. Her sharp tongue was astonishing.

Come to think of it, was there ever a screenwriter who couldn''t argue her way out of

a situation? Whether she chose to speak up or not was another matter.

If a screenwriter was in the mood, she could talk circles around anyone.

Dorian cleared his throat, ready to say something else, but Finnian tugged at his arm and quietly urged, “Let''s just go. They''re both pregnant, and we really shouldn''t upset them."

    That shut Dorian up immediately.

Finnian was right. With both women pregnant, it was best not to provoke them.

Especially now that his own wife was expecting, he knew he had to adjust his attitude—be attentive to her moods and keep her happy at all times...

Dorian felt a bit helpless. He nced at Elysia, hoping she might look his way, but she just sat with her chin propped in her hand, staring out the window, pointedly ignoring him.

He could only sigh in resignation and leave with Finnian.

Once Finnian and Dorian were gone, the house felt much quieter, and both Amara and Elysia could finally rx.

The two of them sat in the living room and chatted for a while. Amara told Elysia about Nora.

Elysia was quite interested and wanted to meet Nora, so she added her on WhatsApp using her number.

Nora quickly epted the friend request. After a brief conversation, they agreed on a time to meet for an interview. Seeing that everything was set, Amara took her leave.

She had simply introduced Nora to Elysia; whether things worked out between them was up to them. She wouldn''t get involved any further. Besides, she had her own matters to attend to so she stood up and left."

After stepping outside Elysia''s house, Amara was about to head back to her own ce when she received a call from an unfamiliar number.

The number looked vaguely familiar, though she hadn''t saved it. She picked up and asked, "Hello, who''s speaking?"

"It''s me," came Hogan''s voice on the other end. "Are you free right now? Celeste would like to see you."

    Celeste?

Amara was a little surprised to hear that name. Wasn''t Celeste supposed to be abroad? Plus, she''d left the country originally because of how shed schemed against both Amaran and Hogan.

Why would Hogan say Celeste wanted to meet her? Was she back already?

    Not hearing an immediate response

    from Amara, Hogan guessed she

was reluctant to see Celeste. Given all the things Celeste had done in the past, it would be understandable if she didn''t want to meet. So he added. "Celeste just wants to talk you thats all. There''s no other motive. If you have time, pleasee see her."
