Chapter 604

    "Grandfather, I...”

Amara wanted to say she hadn''t been bullied, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she couldn''t hold back her tears.

She felt so wronged the frustration had been bottled up for months, with no one to understand her. Now that Mr. Kevin Everly finally recognized her pain, she felt both relieved and overwhelmed.

"Oh, Ama, what''s going on? Don''t cry. If someone''s been giving you a hard time, just tell me. I''ll make sure they regret it..."

Seeing Amara in tears, Mr. Kevin Everly''s heart ached. He quickly pulled her into his arms, gently patting her back infort.

After a moment, Amara managed topose herself. She wiped her damp cheeks and forced a smile. "You don''t need to worry about me. No one''s been bullying me."

"I was just thinking about a few things, and it made me emotional. But that''s all in the past. I''m fine now, really. There''s nothing for you to worry about."

Despite her words, Mr. Kevin Everly clearly didn''t believe her. He was about to press further-wanting to know exactly who had hurt her-when the door suddenly swung open. Finnian strode in, his face tense. "What''s going on?"

He''d just returned from urgent business at the office. After finishing up, he came back to the old house intending to speak with Amara, only to hear she was with his grandfather.

As he approached the room, he heard crying inside. Thinking of everything that had happened that day, a wave of worry hit him and he rushed in.

But when he entered, he found Amara sobbing on her grandfather''s shoulder-not being scolded as he''d imagined. He paused, momentarily taken aback.

Hearing someonee in, Mr. Kevin Everly looked up and saw Finnian. At the sight of him, his temper red. "You''ve got some nerveing back here, you idiot!" he snapped.

Finnian was dumbfounded. Why was his grandfather suddenly scolding him? He hadn''t even done anything.

Mr. Kevin Everly let go of Amara, hobbled forward a few steps with his cane, and red at Finnian. “You know about Ama having a child, don''t you?"

He didn''t need to ask-Finnian''s expression said it all.

Besides, whenever something happened to Ama, Finnian was always the first to know.

Not waiting for a response, Mr. Kevin Everly raised his cane and gave Finnian a few whacks. "This all because you don''t care about Amat you were even half the Husband you should be, none of this would have happened..."

Mr. Kevin Everly was convinced that Amara had been wronged.

And since it had happened while she was married to Finnian, wasn''t it Finnian''s responsibility?

As her husband, he hadn''t even realized what she was going through, letting her suffer so much. Mr. Kevin Everly was furious.

Finnian was even more bewildered now. He had absolutely no idea why his grandfather was hitting him.

Startled, Amara hurried over and grabbed Mr. Kevin Everly''s arm. “Grandpa, please don''t hit him. This really isn''t his fault..."

How did things get so out of hand? Amara was at a loss.

After finally coaxing Mr. Kevin Everly to calm down, she gently led Finnian out of the

    room.

"Mr. Everly, I honestly don''t know why my grandfather reacted that way just now," Amara said apologetically once they were out in the hallway.

Finnian didn''t take it to heart. He''d been on the receiving end of his grandfather''s cane plenty of times. and those few hits were really nothing. Right now, all he cared about was her.

"Have you checked your phone? This has already made the trending

topics," he said. "I''m having people work on containing it, and I''ve asked

    Will

Il to investigate. We should have some answers soon."
