Chapter 575

She lowered her head and said, “Mr. Everly, I just happened to overhear something. If you''d like to know, I can tell you, but please, don''t tell Liliana, okay?"

Finnian gave a slight nod in agreement. Nora continued, "I was passing by a dressing room just now and heard two people arguing inside. It was Keith and Amara. It seemed like they were having a conflict about their marriage."

Nora repeated the few sentences she had overheard to Finnian.

Finnian''s expression had tensed the moment he heard Amara''s name. Now, after hearing Nora''s ount, his eyes darkened.

Nora felt a pang of anxiety. What was Mr. Everly thinking? What if he didn''t actually care about Amara and Keith fighting? Then she would have made a mistake by telling him.

As her mind raced, Finnian suddenly stood up. "I have to go. Don''t tell Liliana I was here. I''ll text her."

    With that, he left.

Staring at the empty dressing room, Nora felt a wave of relief after her initial shock.

It seemed Mr. Everly really did care more about Amara. She suddenly felt a flicker of anticipation, wondering what might happen between them now.

After leaving the venue, Finnian repeatedly called Amara, but she didn''t pick up

    once.

He then called the event organizer to ask where Amara was, only to be told that she had already left.

So Finnian drove back to the Everly family estate, but when he asked the staff, they all said they hadn''t seen Amara.

Finnian''s brow furrowed. Not only could he not find Amara, but she wasn''t answering his calls either. What was going on?

Remembering what he had just heard about her argument with Keith, Finnian grew worried.

He stood outside the estate for a moment, thinking about where Amara might have gone. A thought suddenly struck him, and he immediately drove off.

The ce he thought of was the house Amara had recently purchased, which was currently under renovation.

When he arrived, he went inside and saw only a dozen workers busy with their tasks. Amara was nowhere in sight.

He asked the workers if Amara had been there, and they told him she had stopped by earlier but had left shortly after. They didn''t know where she went.

A new thought sparked in Finnian''s mind. He left the house and began searching the surrounding area.

Five minutester, in a secluded corner of the neighborhood shielded by thick bushes, Finnian saw a lone figure crouched on the ground, perfectly still.

The figure looked so lonely and pitiful that a pang of sorrow hit Finnian. He quickly walked over, ced a hand on her shoulder, and gently helped her up. That''s when he saw Amara''s eyes, red and swollen like a rabbit''s.

Startled by being suddenly lifted and seeing Finnian''s face, Amara gasped.

"Mr. Everly, what are you doing here?"

She scrambled to her feet and instinctively touched her face. Relieved that her tears had dried, she failed to notice that her red-rimmed eyes were a dead

giveaway that she had been crying.

Finnian didn''t answer her question. Instead, he asked, "Why were you hiding here? What happened?"

“I''m fine. I was just out for a walk and got tired, so I rested for a bit,” Amara offered a flimsy lie.

Finnian stared at her for a moment, then suddenly took her by the wrist and began walking briskly forward Amara called out to him from

behind, but he didn''t stop. He led her out of the neighborhood and

    bundled her into his car.
