Elysia nodded. "Yeah..."
Before, when she saw how much Keith liked Amara, she thought he would be a good match for her.
But now, it seemed the West family was aplete disaster, a snake pit you shouldn''t just jump into.
"Whoa! What are you doing..."
Suddenly, a shout of surprise, which sounded like Dorian, came from outside. Elysia and Amara exchanged a curious nce, opened the door, and went out to see what was going on.
The kitchen door was open, and the sound seemed to being from there. Amara and Elysia stepped inside.
There, they saw Finnian, wearing an apron, standing at the stove, rapidly chopping vegetables. The slices were perfectly uniform, and his speed was impressive, a clear sign of excellent knife skills.
Dorian was hovering around him. He picked up one of the potato slices Finnian had cut and held it up to the light.
The slice was so thin it was translucent, and its thickness was perfectly even. He said in disbelief, "You, Mr. Finnian Everly, who used to never lift a finger in the kitchen, how did you get so good at cooking? What happened to you?"
Elysia''s eyes widened too. Finnian could cook?
She and Dorian crowded around him, watching from all angles. Finnian, however, remainedpletelyposed as he chopped vegetables and prepared seasonings with practiced ease, as if he''d done it a thousand times. Both of them were utterly amazed.
"What''s all the fuss about?" Finnian finally spoke. "Move aside. Don''t get in my way." Dorian: "..."
Elysia:
п
They both took a step back but continued to stare in astonishment as Finnian cooked.
Amara watched from the doorway. Finnian really could cook; after all, she had been the one to teach him.
A smile tugged at her lips as she remembered the times they had cooked together in the back kitchen of the Everly family''s old mansion.
But she quickly snapped herself out of it, realizing she was getting lost in a phantom memory. She turned and left the kitchen.
Soon, Finnian had prepared two dishes and a soup.
He had made stir-fried squid with dried chilies, spicy potato and chicken stir-fry, and a pork rib and corn soup. Just then, the takeout Dorian had ordered also arrived.
They cleared the table and sat down to eat.
Amara naturally sat with Elysia, while Finnian and Dorian sat across from them.
Dorian looked at the dishes Finnian
had made. They looked and smelled delicious, and he knew they would taste just as good. He gave Finnian a thumbs-up and then asked, "Why did you make everything spicy? And why pork rib and corn soup? Shouldn''t you have made a hot and sour soup to go with these two dishes?"
Elysia nced at the dishes on the table and said coolly, "These are all Ama''s favorite dishes."
Dorian was instantly speechless. He shot Finnian a look, not quite sure what to say.
Elysia appeared calm, but inside, a storm was brewing.
As the saying goes, the two most precious things in the world are a poor man''s money and a rich man''s time.
If Finnian had bought Amara
something expensive, it wouldn''t et
have been surprising. But now I
now it was
clear that Finnian had learned to cook for Amara.
For a powerful chairman to learn to cook for the woman he liked... that was really something.
She truly didn''t know what to think.
