But with Fiona''s ambition, just being a little better off than the middle ss wouldn''t be enough. She wanted to be a true aristocrat.
No wonder Fiona had gotten so thintely and her mood had turned so sour. She must have known about the share distribution for a while.
But Larry had always doted on Fiona and her daughter, siding with them and ignoring her for years. Why the sudden change of heart this year? Had something happened that she didn''t know about?
Amara returned to the living room to find Finnian and Keith standing before the sofa, staring at each other. The air was thick with tension.
Seeing this, she immediately felt a sense of dread. Were they about to get into a fight?
When Finnian saw her, he asked, "Amara, are you really going to be with him?"
Before Amara could answer, Keith sneered, "What''s that supposed to mean, Mr. Everly? Trying to steal my girl right in front of me? You''re dreaming. Amara isn''t that foolish."
Finnian ignored him, continuing to address Amara. "Keith is an actor. His work is too unstable, requiring him to travel all year round. He won''t have any consistent time to spend with you."
"And the entertainment industry is a messy ce. Very few men in it can stay clean. Marrying a male celebrity is a very unwise decision. Have you really thought this through?"
His words made Amara''s skin crawl.
As expected, Keith''s eyes widened. "What do you mean it''s hard to stay clean in the entertainment industry? Let me tell you, I''ve kept my nose clean for years. At the very least, I''ve never gotten a woman pregnant out of wedlock."
He let out a coldugh, the jab at Liliana''s recent pregnancy hanging pointedly in the air.
Finnian''s expression twisted for a moment.
The child he''d had with Liliana was a constant source of pain for him, and a deep rift between him and Amara. Whenever it was mentioned, he was filled with guilt in her presence.
His eyes turned cold. "So what if you want to stay clean? The men and women in your industry will do anything to climb thedder."
"For the past twenty years, you might have avoided any serious entanglements, but can you guarantee you''ll stay faithful for the next few decades?"
He pped several photos down on the table.
They showed Keith in various public settings, with a different woman throwing herself at him in each picture.
Seeing the photos, Keith''s eyes narrowed dangerously. "Where did you get these?"
Countless men and women had
tried to use him to get ahead over the years. Whenever he went out, someone was always trying to throw themselves at him, but he had, without exception, rejected them all.
These photos were snapshots taken at the exact moment those women lunged at him. How did Finnian have them?
"They were all taken by paparazzi. Your agent took care of them, but you can still buy them through certain channels," Finnian said.
"Your lifestyle makes these situationsmon. Can you guarantee it will always be the same?" he said, ncing at Amara.
Watching the two men sh, Amara''s head was spinning.
Before Keith could speak again, she
walked over, gathered the photos from the table, cut them into pieces with a pair of scissors, and threw them the trash. Then she said, "MrEverly, you''re a man of status and power, not to mention handsome. I''m sure plenty of women throw themselves at you
too. What right do you have to judge
others?"
Keith smirked, looking Finnian up and down with an expression that clearly said,
"Amara''s right."
