Chapter 67

I watched Selena for a moment. After hesitating for a while, I found an excuse to catch up with Andy before she left.

"Ms. Andy, what did you mean earlier when you talked to Selena about those things?" I couldn''t help but express my puzzlement.

Andy gave me a suspicious look and said, "You''re not with ourpany, so why do you care?"

She shrugged and left right away. I ran toward her and blocked her path again.

"It''s true, I''m not part of yourpany. But on paper, I''m still Selena''s husband. Am I not allowed to care about things for my wife?"

Though I wanted to get a divorce and was fed up with her relentless clinging, our rtionship was still real. I didn''t want to see her or herpany dragged down.

Andy looked annoyed, rolling her eyes and covering her ears, as if protesting my retort.

"Fine, fine. I get it. You are a devoted husband. You really don''t have to emphasize how much you love Selena in front of me. I might actually get mad."

I didn''t fully understand her reaction, but I pressed on. "So what''s really going on?"

I didn''t want any lingering ties with Selena, but I also didn''t want to be in the dark about what was happening in her world.

After all, I had yed a significant role in her past.

Andy sighed. "What do you think? It''s just the usual. People see Selena holding all these assets as a single woman, so they take advantage and bully her. Now that she''s been away from thepany, some are taking advantage of it and seizing some money for themselves."

She rolled her eyes, looking exasperated. "Honestly, I''m tired of seeing those greedy people in the office every day."

Then she turned to me and said, "So if you can, try to persuade Selena toe back to thepany soon. If she keeps staying away, I really don''t know what kind of chaos thispany might be."

After a few more words, Andy left.

I was feeling uneasy over what she said. For now, I was not sure what to do either.

Looking at the phone, I frowned. I decided to call Zion to see if he knew more. After he picked up, we exchanged a few pleasantries, and only then I had the courage to ask, "Is something going on with Selena''spany?"

There was a brief, surprised silence on the other end. Zion then replied with irritation, "Why are you, an outsider, constantly worried about ourpany? Just focus on your own."

    His words stirred my anger.

"You think I wouldn''t focus on my own work if I could? You''ve kept me here in the hospital for 20 days, and you barely let me use my phone and make calls. Mypany is in Carzonia, a thousand miles away from here. How am I supposed to look after things there?"

During these 20 days in the hospital, I wasn''t aware of what was going on at thepany. If I had been able to go in even once, I wouldn''t have been blindsided by something as important as Sylvia''s transfer.

After a long pause, Zion replied coldly, "I''ll handle the issue at Selena''spany."
