Chapter 62

"How did you find out about this?" Sylvia frowned, clearly caught off guard.

Looking at the expression on her face, it was obvious that she had no intention of telling me.

Realizing this made me feel angry, though I wasn''t even sure why I felt that way.

"Why? Wasn''t staying in Carzonia good enough?" I questioned her, looking her directly in the eyes.

She sat down, slowly wiping her damp hair as she began to exin.

"I just thought Adenville has a better economy and more opportunities. Working at the headquarters means faster promotion, and my sry will be higher."

Her reasoning was solid, but something still felt off to me.

Either way, my main task now was to persuade her to go back. If she was willing to return to Carzonia, I could use my current position, and even with Zion''s help, to transfer her within thepany.

"But if you''re working here in Adenville and I finish my project and return to Carzonia, we''ll be living far apart. A train ride will take hours. We''ll end up in a long-distance rtionship."

It had only been a month since we started doing long-distance.

In this one month, we''ve hardly spoken. I knew nothing about her daily life, and it was unsettling. I couldn''t imagine how we would manage if this separation continued indefinitely.

I was upset, but Sylvia seemed unbothered.

She put down the towel, smiled at me, and shrugged.

"Rx. I already paid two months'' rent for your ce, so your things can still be put there for two months. Plus, if you want, you can apply to stay here in Adenville. You used to work here, after all. If you requested toe back, they would probably approve it."

I nced at my phone. Ourst conversations were those few short video calls. Besides that, we didn''t have any realmunication. I realized Sylvia hadn''t discussed any of this with me.

The thought made me even angrier.

"Why didn''t you at least talk to me about these things?" I asked, barely holding back my frustration.

She looked at me with genuine confusion. "This is my business. As long as I have it sorted, why do I need to discuss it with you?"

"Did you discuss it with me before you left Adenville? You left without a word. You didn''t even leave a message," she shot back.

I didn''t know Sylvia was still thinking about that incident. I thought she had gotten over it.

"You didn''t tell me a single thing abouting to Adenville. I called you so many times, and you didn''t answer. If it weren''t for the fact that you finally called back before the 72-hour limit to file a report, I was ready to report you missing to the police."

"And now, here you are, lecturing me about not discussing the transfer with you, as if you consulted me when you took on this project in Adenville," she added, her voice bing louder.

It was clear that she was not happy about meing to Adenville.

"Sylvia, I know I should have talked to you beforeing here. But you have to believe me. It wasn''t by choice. I had no other option."

I wanted so badly to tell her the truth, to exin it wasn''t that I didn''t want to tell her abouting to Adenville, or that I didn''t answer her calls on purpose. It was because, at that time, I simply couldn''t.
