Chapter 59

"Hudson, are you out of your mind? What are you doing at a ce like this?"

Zion looked around the room. He looked utterly dissatisfied with the décor and the amenities of the room.

"The bed is terrible, the decor is bad, and the whole ce has a creepy vibe. If you wanted somewhere to stay, couldn''t you have picked something better? Even the hospital''s amodations are miles ahead of this. I honestly don''t get what''s going through your head."

My hospital room was in the VIP ward, costing hundreds of dors per day. Naturally, a hotel that cost only 50 or 60 dors a night was noparison.

I didn''t have the time or patience for hisints, so I cut to the chase.

"Zion, I need to ask you something. Did you send someone to follow me?"

He looked slightly puzzled but nodded anyway. "Wasn''t that what you asked for? If

I didn''t have someone watching you, what would happen if you ran off?"

I didn''t quite understand why. If that was the case, why did he still choose to meet me when I threatened to leave?

After a moment of hesitation, I sighed. "Can you not tell Selena what I was doing today? Make up an excuse if you have to, but just don''t tell her I went to the station to meet someone."

"You went to the station to meet someone? Who exactly are you meeting? Where are you being so sneaky about it? What exactly happened—"

Before he could finish, I cut him off. "My girlfriend came to Adenville, and I went to pick her up from the station. She''s staying in the next room. If you don''t believe me, I can introduce you."

"Your girlfriend is here?" He was surprised, but he quickly became angry.

"Are you out of your mind? You don''t even know if Selena has gotten better, and now you bring your girlfriend into the picture. Do you even n on leaving?"

I understood his anger but could only sigh helplessly.

"She came here on her own without telling me. I had no idea she hade until she arrived."

How could Sylvia know that what she thought was a surprise was actually more of a shock for me?

"Things have already gone this far, so let''s focus on dealing with it. You wouldn''t seriously tell Selena that I went to the station to pick up my girlfriend, would you? Imagine her reaction if she found out about that."

Zion rolled his eyes. "If you know the consequences, why did you go to the station?"

"And if I didn''t? My girlfriend would definitely start to suspect something. What did you expect me to do? Call her and ask her toe meet me at the hospital?" I shot back.

    That left him momentarily speechless.

"So what''s the n now? Your girlfriend is already here." He looked up at me and asked.

I stared at the dim, cracked ceiling, feeling lost.

    "I don''t know."

Zion didn''t give me a moment to collect my thoughts. Hearing my answer, he became infuriated, jabbing his finger toward me in rebuke.

"You don''t know?'' Did you think about any of this when you started dating again? Selena still hasn''t officially divorced you, yet you''re already jumping from one rtionship to another without a second thought. Did you even think about the consequences?"

    I couldn''t help but smirk.

And who was he to criticize me?

Did he really think he had any right?

Besides, I never aimed for some seamless transition, let alone begin another rtionship.

Sylvia had been the one to pursue me from the start.
