Chapter 58

I followed Sylvia to the hotel she had booked earlier.

It was an extremely ordinary hotel with very average decoration and amenities.

I didn''t quite believe it was a hotel. It was more like a small guesthouse, hidden in a narrow alley.

Without calling the hotel directly, I doubt I would have even found it.

"Why are you staying at a ce like this?" I gave Sylvia a puzzled look.

She looked embarrassed, but she smiled. She then patted the white bedsheet and gestured to me to sit down.

"It''s just for a few days, and I just need somewhere to sleep. Why do I need to be picky? It has air conditioning and a bed, and everything else a hotel usually has, so why not?"

"Let me book you a better ce. This ce doesn''t seem very safe. "As I spoke, I took out my phone, wanting to book another hotel for her.

The prices of the other hotels were a hundred dors per night. I suddenly understood why Sylvia didn''t want to stay in a hotel.

I had been through rough times as well. I was no stranger to this kind of hardship.

With that thought, I sighed and chose to respect her choice.

"I still have some things to handle back at work, so I''ll head back first," I said, looking at her with a sigh.

"You took the train here all alone from Carzonia. The long journey must have been tiring. Get some rest."

Instead of leaving, though, I found a quiet spot nearby and called Zion.

The phone connected quickly, and I was surprised to hear his voice.

I had assumed he would recognize my number and hang up right away. But apparently, he had no idea it was me.

I quickly introduced myself. There was a pause before he responded in an irritated tone, "Hudson, why aren''t you at the hospital with Selena? What are you doing out here?"

So Selena had indeed sent someone to follow me.

I nced around but didn''t see anyone tailing me. Still, I knew there was someone keeping an eye on me all this while.

"Zion, I need your help with something." I decided to try working with him.

"Just say it." But he quickly added, "But remember, Hudson, I''m not promising anything."

I frowned. "Can youe over here? I need to talk to you in person."

"If you don''te, I''ll just head back to Carzonia and catch the train from the station. With the digital ID system now, I can travel without my ID card."

Apparently, my words were enough to threaten him. Although unwilling, Zion asked for the location.

Half an hourter, I saw him downstairs at the hotel.

He looked at the building''s shabby exterior with disdain. His gaze grew even more disdainful when he saw me.

Ignoring his attitude, I led him into the hotel, all the way to Sylvia''s room.

As if being disgusted by the ce, he patted his clothes to brush the dust off.

I had slipped the receptionist some money, so I managed to book an hourly room without needing an ID.

We sat in the room next to Sylvia''s. Zion looked at me disapprovingly at the room I had booked.
