?Chapter 3108:
He stared at Elissa, silently pleading for her to confirm it with her own words. “Elissa… is this true?”
Her pale face twisted with silent pain. Tears slipped free before she could answer. “Yes,” she murmured.
A cold shiver plunged deep into Ernest’s chest.
She had done it—there was no denying it.
He had even told her to burn the letter, haunted by the thought that Savannah might discover it. But she had betrayed that trust, showing Savannah the letter anyway—his caution now seemingughably naive.
“I’m sorry…” Elissa lifted a trembling hand to brush away her tears, but they kept streaming, unstoppable. She murmured the words again and again, each one breaking her further. “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”
“Sorry…” Ernest echoed, a breathless whisper carrying her anguish.

Each apology only drove the ache in his chest deeper.
Savannah’s voice cut through the tension like ice. “So, have you given up now? Will you leave, or do you need another reminder?” Her warning was sharp, unyielding. “Leave immediately—or don’t me me for being harsh.”
Breaking into a private property and attempting to abduct a woman would be a crime of the highest order if reported. And Ernest being a foreigner in this country didn’t make things any easier.
“Alright…” Ernest’s nod was stiff, heavy with the ache of eptance.
He didn’t need Savannah to tell him; he already knew. Staying here when he couldn’t take Elissa—what purpose did it serve?
“I…” Ernest hesitated, stealing onest, reluctant nce at Elissa. “I have to go.”
Then he turned and walked away.
As his figure receded, panic surged through Elissa, consuming her entirely. It stole the air from her lungs.
“Ernest! Ernest Flynn!” she called out, desperate.
Ernest froze mid-step, startled.
Had she called him back? Had she changed her mind? Was she finally ready toe with him?
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”
In that moment she called his name, a fleeting smile crossed his features. Her chest clenched, and she sprinted toward him, heart aching.
“Elissa!” Ernest’s heart soared. He opened his arms wide, stepping forward to embrace her.
“Elissa!” But Savannah’s panic erupted, her voice sharp and desperate. “Elissa! Come back here! What do you think you’re doing? Don’t be reckless!”
“Guards! Stop them!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
The guards surged forward. One seized Ernest, another blocked Elissa. They were torn apart.
“Elissa!” Ernest strained against them, desperate.
“E… Ernest!” Elissa mirrored his effort, stretching toward him with all she had.
The guards dared not touch her, so Savannah stepped in herself, yanking her back forcefully.
“Elissa, pull yourself together! Do you even know what you’re doing?”
“Mom… Mom…” Elissa’s red, swollen eyes glimmered with tears. She looked at Ernest. “I’ll tell you why! I… I—”
Frozen in ce, his throat tight, Ernest forced the words out. “Alright… just tell me.”
“The reason I can’t go with you is because I…”
“Elissa!” Savannah’s fury exploded. She mped a hand over her daughter’s mouth. “Don’t! You can’t!”
“Mom!” Elissa yanked free, tears streaming. “Let me speak! Once he knows, he’ll give up and walk away. Then… I can too.”
“No! You can’t!” Savannah shook her head fiercely before turning to the guards. “What are you all standing around for? Take her—now!”
“Right away, ma’am!”
But as the guards advanced, Elissa cried out, her voice breaking.
“Ernest, I have a child!”
