?Chapter 3077:
Her friend? There was only one possibility—Emma.
But why was she here?
“Got it,” Elissa said, slowing to a stop.
She quickly made her way to the living room—not wishing to keep Emma waiting.
“Elissa!” Emma eximed warmly, hooking her arm through Elissa’s. “Come on—let’s go hang out in your room.”
“Oh—wait—” Elissa started, but Emma had already tugged her along.
Inside, Emma turned the key and locked the door behind them.
Elissa stared at her, bewilderment flickering across her face.

“Elissa!” Emma whispered urgently, grasping her hand. “I wasn’t beingpletely honestst time I asked you out, and I am so sorry. But I swear this time it’s the truth. Mr. Flynn’s been injured!”
“Injured?” Elissa repeated, eyes widening in shock.
“Yes! He’s in the hospital right now!” Emma confirmed.
“What?!” Elissa’s face drained of color. “How did it happen? Is he badly hurt?”
“He was assaulted while jogging this morning,” Emma exined gravely.
“Who could possibly do such a thing?” Elissa murmured, stunned.
“Remember the day I tricked you into going out with me?” Emma said softly. “Were you harassedter?”
“Yes…” Elissa whispered, nodding faintly.
“It was them again,” Emma continued, her tone darkening. “They followed him, ambushed him, and then roughed him up.”
Emma studied her friend’s expression. “If you want to know how serious it is… you can go see for yourself.”
Elissa stood still, torn between fear and curiosity.
“Honestly,” Emma added with a sly smile, “it’s a bit pitiful he got beaten up—but then again, he did trick you first. Call it karma.”
She waved dismissively. “It’s alright if you’d rather note.”
“In that case, I’ll leave you alone,” Emma added lightly, pretending to reach for the doorknob.
“Emma, wait!” Elissa called out, hurrying after her.
“Yes?” Emma turned, a knowing smile tugging at her lips. “You want to go, don’t you? You’re worried about him.”
“Mm,” Elissa murmured, nodding, though her eyes wavered with doubt.
“Thene on!” Emma grinned. “If your heart says yes, don’t fight it!”
“But… my mother’s out,” Elissa said, faltering.
“Oh really? Where is she now?” Emma asked curiously, realizing she hadn’t seen Savannah earlier.
“She left for the university earlier,” Elissa replied.
Though she wasn’t taking any new students this year, Savannah had to mentor her old ones until they graduated.
“Perfect!” Emma said with a wink. “Then there’s nothing in our way!”
She grabbed Elissa’s hand and tugged her toward the stairs.
A maid paused mid-step. “Miss Brown, Miss Carrillo—where are you two going?”
“Just heading out for a short while!” Emma interrupted cheerfully. “We’ll be back soon!”
“Well…” the maid began uncertainly. “But Mrs. Brown said—”
“Don’t fret!” Emma cut in with a warm smile. “I took Elissa out before and Mrs. Brown always gave us permission—it’s perfectly fine.”
The maid nodded slowly, finally convinced.
“Let’s go,” Emma said warmly, giving Elissa’s hand an encouraging squeeze as she guided her toward the car.
Once they reached the hospital, Emma guided Elissa to Ernest’s room and whispered, “Here we are.”
Elissa’s mind whirled, her heart a storm of emotion.
“Go ahead,” Emma said softly. “I’ll stay right outside.”
“Emma.” Elissa reached out, stopping her.
“Yes?” Emma turned to her, brow furrowing. “What’s wrong?”
“You…” Elissa faltered, color rising to her face. “Why?”
“Why what?” Emma asked softly, a yful smile tugging at her lips. “Oh—you mean, why bring you here? Well…”
