Chapter 3076

    Chapter 3076:

“Hey! Stop right there—what on earth are you doing?”

“Police!” a voice rang out, sharp andmanding.

“Freeze!” The officers rushed forward with thunderous urgency.

“Cops! Go, go, go! Run for your life, guys!”

After Wird’s desperate call, Emma dashed to the hospital, her heartbeat drumming like thunder in her ears.

“Dad!” she called out, panic sharpening every syble.

“Emma,” Wird said quietly, standing outside the hospital room, anxiety shadowing his face.

“What happened?” she asked, ncing toward the tightly shut door. “Is it serious?”

“They’ve done all the necessary tests—it’s not too serious,” Wird replied, exhaling slowly. “The patrol officers said they reached him right on time.”

“Oh, thank God,” Emma whispered, releasing a breath she didn’t know she’d held. “But what caused all this? He barely knew anyone in this country!”

On the call, Wird had given her only the briefest ount—Ernest had been attacked and taken to the hospital.

“Any idea who’s behind it?” Emma asked, her tone unsteady, heart pounding in her chest.

“Not yet,” Wird replied, worry creasing his brow. “The police are questioning him now.”

The door then swung open, and two uniformed officers emerged.

    “Officers!”

“Mr. Carrillo, Miss Carrillo,” one officer announced politely. “We’vepleted our questioning. You may see him now. Mr. Flynn gave us crucial details—we’ll notify you as soon as we learn more.”

“Thank you kindly, officers,” Wird said with courtesy.

“Just doing our duty, Mr. Carrillo,” one of them replied with a nod.

As Wird escorted them out, Emma slipped into the room.

“Miss Carrillo,” Ernest greeted softly, seated upright, his head wrapped in light bandages.

“Mr. Flynn!” Emma hurried to his side, concerncing her voice. “What on earth happened? The police mentioned you’d given crucial details. Did you identify the culprits?”

“Yes,” Ernest answered solemnly. “The same gang that harassed Elissa—the very day I asked you to help me ask her out.”

“Oh no!” Emma’s eyes widened. “Those thugs again?”

A pack of unruly street toughs—vicious but small-time.

“Don’t you worry. My father will see to it,” Emma said, her voice steady with resolve.

Considering Ernest was a foreigner here in Ontmond, it only made sense for the Carrillos to intervene on his behalf.

“Thank you,” Ernest murmured, rising slowly and heading toward the dressing room.

“Wait—where are you off to? Should I fetch a nurse?” Emma asked, rmed.

“No, that won’t be necessary,” Ernest said softly. “I’m only changing.”

His injuries were mild—hardly reason enough for admission.

“Mr. Flynn!” Emma said sharply, stepping in front of him. “The doctor ordered a full day’s observation—you can’t just leave!”

“It’s really not needed,” he murmured, calm yet obstinate.

Emma paused, her voice softening. “This is about Elissa, isn’t it?”

Even the house he’d rented near her estate betrayed his true intent.

“But even if you go back now, you won’t find her.”

Ernest went still—her words struck like a jolt of thunder.

“Listen,” Emma said gently, a soft smile curving her lips. “You stay here and rest. Leave everything else to me.”

“What?” Ernest frowned, puzzled. “You’ll help me?”

Emmaughed softly. “Naturally—you’re a distinguished guest of our family, aren’t you?”

Beneath the teasing, genuine concern still glimmered in her voice.

A soft knock echoed at the home gym.

“Miss Brown, your friend has arrived,” the maid said as Elissa jogged on the treadmill.
