Chapter 3070

    ?Chapter 3070:

“People look up to your father as the leader of the Brown family, and your mother works as a professor who studies rocks. Folks treat you like someone important. You have a cook preparing your meals at home. That’s why it makes sense if you never tasted the baking goods from that shop.”

The thought carried a sensible tone.

Elissa gave it some thought, and her frustration eased a little.

“Elissa…” Ernest remembered her condition and chose his words with care as he spoke in a soft voice. “Did you visit the hospital yesterday?”

“Yes.” Elissa lifted her gaze, her cheeks puffed out. “How did you find out?”

Ernest said, “I want you to promise that you won’t get angry once I exin.”

Elissa paused for a moment before nodding. “Alright.”

“It’s because…” Ernest finally gathered the nerve to say what he had done. “I noticed your car passing by my ce yesterday, and I ended up following you to the hospital.”

“Oh.” Elissa understood what he meant.

“Elissa.” Ernest showed his concern as he frowned and continued asking, “Can you tell me something? Why do you keep returning to the hospital? Are you there for follow-up visits?”

Elissa stayed silent. She had food in her mouth and began to chew more slowly at his question. She knitted her brows while she tried to swallow.

“Take your time.” Ernest filled a cup with water and handed it to her. “Try to swallow your food first.”

Once he noticed the strain in her features, he ventured a guess. “Is it because the test results turned out poorly?”

He wished he could avoid the subject. However, he had watched Elissa leave the hospital with reddened eyes more than once.

If the situation had taken a serious turn, then it was something they needed to face side by side. Facing it early would serve them better.

Elissa managed to swallow her food at a slow pace. She then reached for the cup and sipped the water. She found herself unsure of whether she should share the truth.

Ernest kept still and waited without urging her.

    Then the doorbell chimed.

“Just a moment.” Ernest rose from his seat and moved toward the door.

His phone started to ring at the same time. “Hello…” he answered as he walked. “Miss Carrillo?”

His words carried a calm tone.

Since he made no effort to lower his voice, Elissa caught every bit of it. She realized Emma was the one calling.

Whatever uncertainty lingered in Elissa’s expression vanished as she took a napkin and wiped her mouth.

Emma began speaking from the other end of the line.

“Forgive me.” Ernest offered his apology as he spoke into the phone. “I did not think it would end up like that. I am sorry for the trouble… Alright…”

He ended the call and walked toward the door before opening it.

A bodyguard stood outside with a delicate bag. “These are for you, sir.”

“Good.” Ernest epted the bag, shut the door, and turned back to bring it to Elissa.
