Chapter 3037

    ?Chapter 3037:

Elissa gently pushed the ss door open, slipped in like a whisper, and closed it with delicate care, as though afraid even the air might stir.

On light feet, she crept toward the bed. One nce at her mother—peacefully asleep on her side—brought a soft sigh of relief.

    Thank heavens—her mother hadn’t stirred.

She slipped beneath the covers, drawing the nket up to her chin, her eyelids fluttering shut atst—a moment of fragile peace.

But the moment Elissa’s breathing steadied, Savannah’s eyes shed open in the dark.

Elissa didn’t realize that her mother had been awake all along—every sense sharp and alert.

Ever since Elissa’s mysterious trip to the terrace the night before, Savannah had stayed vignt—her mind too taut with unease. The instant Elissa moved, Savannah’s eyes had fluttered open, instinctively attuned to her daughter’s every motion.

Yet she held her silence, waiting, and then rose softly and followed in secret.

And what she saw shocked her…

Now, recalling it, Savannah released a soundless sigh, her brows knitting in anguish. She had witnessed everything—both the truth she sought and the pain she wished she hadn’t.

Her thoughts churned in a storm of disbelief and sorrow.

Ernest—what kind of man was he? Elissa had barely remembered anything from her past, and already he’d managed to win her over again!

    Irritation burned beneath her fatigue.

The whole night had passed without a moment’s rest.

By morning, Savannah was stifling yawn after yawn over breakfast. Noyer of makeup could disguise the exhaustion etched across her face.

“Rough night?” Neville asked, concern softening his tone. He filled her cup, the aroma of coffee rising between them.

“Yes,” Savannah murmured, nodding absently as her gaze drifted toward the closed bathroom door.

Elissa was still inside, the soft hum of running water audible through the door.

“There’s something you should know…” Savannah began quietly.

She lowered her voice, speaking in hushed tones while listening for any sound from the bathroom, recounting every detail of what she’d seen the night before.

She ended with a frustrated hiss. “That man is insufferable! Even now—when Elissa’s so fragile—he won’t stay away!”

Neville hesitated, rubbing his temple. “Maybe… just maybe, he actually cares for her?”

He’d been meaning to voice this thought for quite some time. “If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t have searched for her so desperately,” he added quietly.

After all, by his own arrangements, they’d found Elissa’s “body” in Srixby back then. But Ernest hadn’t settled—he refused to believe Elissa was really gone.

“He cares for her?” Savannah’s voice rose, her eyes shing. “You mean that dangerous, toxic kind of care? Who in their right mind would want that?”

“You’re absolutely right,” Neville agreed quickly.

Seeing her temper re, Neville didn’t dare argue. “You’re right—it’s too risky. But… what do you n to do about it?”

Elissa, in her current state, was as delicate as a child. “You see,” Neville added reluctantly, “it seems she has feelings for him too.”

Savannah exhaled heavily, worry etched between her brows.

And that—above all—was what troubled her most.

“How did ite to this?” she muttered. “What does she even see in that man?”

Neville shrugged. “He’s handsome, polite… the kind of man women usually fall for.” He added, “Objectively speaking, Ernest is the sort who naturally draws women in.”

And that exined why Elissa—past and present—had fallen for him not once, but twice.

Savannah shot him a sharp re. “Are you trying to make me angry?”

“Of course not,” Neville said quickly, retreating into silence.

Taking a slow sip of coffee, Savannah asked casually, “What’s on your schedule today?”

“A round of golf,” he replied.
