Chapter 2991

    ?Chapter 2991:

Kneeling beside her, he gently patted her hair dry with another towel, careful not to leave stray droplets that would fly when blow-dried.

Hadley cracked her eyes open, cheeks glowing, voice raspy. “I’m starving.”

    Simple enough.

“What sounds good?” he asked softly.

    “How about salmon?”

    “Sliced raw?”

    “Seared, please.”

    “Done.”

Eric then pressed the cabin inte. “Please prepare a pan-seared salmon. When it’s ready, set it outside and knock twice.”

He hung up. Her hair was nearly dry.

He fetched the hairdryer from the marble vanity and ran it gently through her strands.

Hadley melted under the warm air, too blissed-out to lift a finger.

    A soft knock echoed.

“Food’s here!” She stretched, trying to sit up.

“Stay put.” Eric eased her back. “I’ve got it.”

    “Put something on first!”

    “Right.”

He snatched a silk robe from the sofa, slipped it on, cinched the belt tight, and cracked the door open.

    “Mr. Scott, your meal.”

“Thank you.” Eric nodded, wheeled the silver cart inside, and locked the door.

Hadley was already perched at the small dining table, neck craned, swallowing in anticipation.

    “Come on!” she urged.

“On my way.” Ericughed—she really was starving.

He rolled the cart over, lifted the cloche, and set the te before her, drizzling fresh lemon over the glistening fish.

    “Dig in.”

“Finally.” Hadley seized the knife and fork, carved off a generous bite, and devoured it.

“Take it easy. Are you that hungry?” Eric teased, eyes dancing. “Didn’t you have dinner?”

“I did,” she mumbled around the salmon, not sparing him a nce. “But it was a tiny, low-fat meal.”

Keeping her figure was non-negotiable in her world.

That meager fuel had long burned away halfway through their intense shower encounter.

“I see.” Eric’s smile deepened, knowing and fond. He poured pale gold fruit wine into a crystal ss. “Try this—light and sweet.”

    Hadley opened her mouth expectantly.

Eric’s heart flipped. She wanted him to feed her?

Smiling, he tilted the ss to her lips for a delicate sip.

    “Mmm. Delicious.”

She polished off the salmon with the wine and let out a soft sigh.

“I’m full now,” she muttered as she dropped her silverware and patted her stomach contentedly.

Eric rose, lifted her effortlessly from the chair, andid her back on the bed.

He cupped her face and kissed her again, slow and deep.

Hadley blinked up at him, confused.

“You should have some energy in you now,” Eric whispered.

    “Again?”

“Again.” His voice dropped, velvet and urgent.

“Too much isn’t healthy!” she protested weakly.

“Doesn’t matter. It’s been so long. Just this once—indulge me, please?”

Her objections melted into the dark.

High above the midnight clouds, their passion burned on without end.
