Chapter 2981

    ?Chapter 2981:

Worry creased Hadley’s brow. “Brady’s never cared that Colleen’s sick, so what’s stopping them now? They’ve always loved each other, through it all. If anything, this just makes it more obvious.”

Brady never held Colleen’s illness against her, and she cherished him just as much. They honestly fit together like they were meant to be.

Eric arched an eyebrow. “Louise is the real obstacle here.”

Hadley nodded slowly. “Then what are we supposed to do next?”

“Wait.” Eric’s face didn’t flicker. “Nothing changes unless Louise gives in. When that happens, everything else will fall into ce.”

Brady showed up again early the next day.

But this time, a nurse at the desk stopped him before he got any further.

    “Are you Mr. Brady Jenkins?”

    Brady paused. “Yes.”

With a polite smile, the nurse said, “If you’re hoping to see Dr. Hayes, I’m afraid you’ll have to leave.”

“What?” Brady was taken aback. “Why?”

“Dr. Hayes told us not to let you visit. If you don’t leave, we’ll have to call security.”

    Was that so?

Brady’s face alternated between pale and flushed. A silent, bitter smile appeared on his lips.

Colleen wanted it this way, so he had no choice but to walk away.

“I get it.” Brady handed the bag over to the nurse. “Could you please—”

“Sorry.” The nurse waved her hands. “Dr. Hayes said nothing from you will be epted.”

Brady’s eyes flew wide, shock and anger crackling in his stare.

His lips pressed tight, Brady withdrew the bag. “Alright.”

Brady turned with the bag in his grip and trudged out of the ward, his steps slow and heavy. His eyes were nk, as if his spirit had wandered off.

He was so lost in thought he never noticed Louiseing out of the elevator.

    Brady?

Louise stared for a moment, then blinked, thinking she must have imagined him.

She nced back once more, taking a closer look. No mistake—it was Brady.

    Had hee for Colleen?

Louise hurried to the nurse’s desk and asked the nurse on duty, “Excuse me, did a young man juste looking for Dr. Hayes?”

“Yes.” The nurse nodded. “He’s been here every day since Dr. Hayes was admitted, always bringing some big bag with him. But…” With a note of regret, she added, “Dr. Hayes said we can’t let him visit anymore, so we have to keep him out.”

“Really? Thank you.” Louise gave a quiet thanks, her feelings tangled and bittersweet.

Brady showing up for Colleen now was thest thing she’d expected.

Louise stepped into the ward and saw Colleen, whose face was calm and collected, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

    “You’re here, Mom?”
