?Chapter 2969:
“Dr. Hayes.” Eric nodded and took a step closer.
Seeing them together, Colleen felt a slight awkwardness. “Hadley, really, you don’t have to stay here. The nurse can help me.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. I’m not going anywhere.” Hadley frowned, giving Eric a quick nce. “And ignore him. He’s leaving in a minute. You and I—we already had ns, anyway.”
“Yeah,” Eric quickly confirmed with a nod. “Dr. Hayes, please don’t worry about me. Since you aren’t feeling well, Hadley should definitely stay.”
He then stole a nce at Hadley, subtly signaling her. “Hadley, could you be so nice and walk me out?”
Hadley was perplexed.
Walk him out? Then why did he follow her in here in the first ce?
Besides, it wasn’t like he was still a kid—he could perfectly find his way out of this building.

“Hadley.” Eric leaned in and whispered urgently, “Please?”
“Oh, okay.” Full of questions, Hadley finally stood and followed him out of the room. “What’s this about, Eric?”
Eric lowered his voice and answered, “This is your chance.”
His gaze flicked quickly toward Colleen’s room.
Hadley still seemed confused.
“Think back to what I told you earlier… about Dr. Hayes and Brady.” Eric urged her, his gaze still focused on the room. “She’s sick, right? That’s the timing I talked about.”
“Okay.” She nodded slowly, still too worried about her friend to think straight.
How was this the perfect timing they were waiting for?
But then the realization dawned on her. “You want me to take advantage of this situation?”
“Yes.” Eric nodded. “Dr. Hayes passed out in her workce and every one of her colleagues saw it. No room for argument. We didn’t stage it, so this is perfect.”
Hadley bit her lip hard, the rush of stress making her heart pound.
Eric gave a subtle nod. “I already took care of the rest earlier.”
“What?” Hadley hadn’t expected him to move so fast. “Didn’t you say you were going to let me decide?”
“No time for that now.”
Eric knew Hadley too well. If he waited for her to decide, she’d miss the opportunity entirely.
“We’re going with my n—just trust me, Hadley.”
Hadley’s concern was immediate. “What if this n backfires? It’d be a total disaster.”
“Mm?”
Eric hesitated, a flicker of doubt crossing his face as he acknowledged the possibility.
“Then they just aren’t meant to be,” Eric said tly. “If this is enough to drive Brady away, he simply doesn’t deserve a wonderful woman like Dr. Hayes. If it doesn’t work out in the end, she’ll finally move on and live her life. Don’t you agree that they both deserve a chance—or at least closure?”
“You’re right…” Hadley slowly nodded. She had faith in her brother. “Let’s go with your n then!”
“Alright.” He nodded decisively. “Make sure you notify Louise.”
“Okay.” She nodded, but honest as she was, Hadley couldn’t help but feel a rush of worry.
