Chapter 1451

    ?Chapter 1451:

Her eyes widened as tears silently slid down her cheeks, though she didn’t know why.

“How could Locke be my child? I never had a child. I really didn’t… Ugh…” Suddenly, she clutched her head.

“My head is killing me.” She winced, shaking her head, her face growing paler by the second. “Why does it hurt so much?”

Her phone rang in her pocket.

    It was Ernest.

She held it tightly for a few seconds before answering. “Hello?”

“Elissa,” Ernest’s voice was gentle, as always. “I ended up workingte. You’re back at your apartment, right? I’m downstairs—can Ie up?”

“Sure,” she replied softly and smiled. “I’ll be right there.”

    “Okay. I’ll wait.”

After ending the call, Elissa opened the door and walked in. A few minutester, Ernest arrived.

“You’re here,” she said, stepping aside. “Come on in. Have a seat.”

“Thanks.” He walked in and set down the bag he’d brought. “I grabbed some snacks. They’re mostly for Locke, but I picked out a few you like too.”

He nced over and smiled. “I know you’ve got a sweet tooth—just like a kid.”

“Thank you.” Elissa pressed her lips together. She didn’t look at the snacks. Instead, she met his eyes and took a breath. “Mr. Flynn, you don’t have to go out of your way for me anymore.”

    Ernest’s expression shifted.

Why was she suddenly calling him “Mr. Flynn” again?

He raised an eyebrow and leaned over the table, gently taking her hand. “Are you upset with me? Why the sudden distance again?”

    “Is it because of Linda?”

If it was, he could understand.

“I promised I’d take care of things,” he said. “And I meant it. I’ve arranged for a doctor from Aradimen to examine her, and she will soon be away for treatment. Just give me a little more time. I’ll send her overseas soon…”

“It’s not that.” Elissa lowered her gaze and gently pulled her hand away. “Mr. Flynn, I know the truth now.”

“What truth?” Ernest frowned. As her hand slipped from his, a strange emptiness settled in his chest. She forced a small smile. “Mr. Flynn… You were kind to me because you thought I was Locke’s mother.”

Her voice tightened. “But I’m not. You’ve been caring about the wrong person. You should be looking for Locke’s real mother.”

Ernest stared at her, stunned at first. But as her words sank in, his expression darkened.

    He took a breath, his voice low. “Did someone say something to you?”<fn025c> ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? Find_Novel(.</fn025c>

“What?” Elissa hesitated, then nodded. “Yes… Linda visited me earlier.”
