Chapter 1446

    ?Chapter 1446:

    “Understood.”

The servant gave a polite nod and quietly left, closing the door behind her.

    Silence settled in the room.

Ericy on the bed, restless in his sleep. His brow was furrowed, his body tense. Hadley stood beside him for a moment and then gently pulled the nket over his shoulders.

She turned off the main light and walked to the bathroom to wash up. When she came back out, his face had softened. He was sleeping more peacefully now.

She let out a quiet breath, picked up her pillow, and made her way to the sofa.

There was no choice—the bed was taken. Tonight, she’d sleep here.

Given how unwell he was, she didn’t want to argue.

The sofa was too cramped for Eric, but for Hadley, it was just fine. She curled up, let out a yawn, and quickly drifted off.

In the middle of the night, Eric woke, dazed and groggy.

    Where was he? In bed?

He blinked, slowly taking in his surroundings. This was Hadley’s room. But where was she?

He switched on the bedsidemp. Across the room, he spotted her curled up on the sofa—fast asleep. She’d given up the bed for him.

Eric walked over and crouched beside her. A faint, wry smile touched his lips. “You’d rather sleep here than beside me?”

He gently lifted her into his arms andid her back on the bed, careful not to wake her.<fn85b5> For original chapters go to fin?novel</fn85b5>

After tucking her in, he headed to the bathroom to wash away the alcohol and lingering exhaustion.

When he stepped out of the bathroom, he wasn’t wearing anything—understandable, since it wasn’t his room and he had no clothes to change into. At first, he moved toward the sofa. Then he paused. Turning back, he looked at Hadley’s sleeping face for a long moment before making up his mind.

He pulled back the nket and slipped into bed beside her.

Without a word, he stretched out an arm and gently pulled her into his embrace.

    Morning.

Hadley stirred at the soft vibration of her phone.

Still half-asleep, she reached out to silence the rm—only tond her hand on a warm, bare chest.

    Her eyes flew open.

Eric’s face was just inches away, his features unreasonably close.

He opened his eyes and ruffled her hair. “Looking for your phone?”

He reached behind her, grabbed it from the nightstand, and silenced the rm. Then he slid his arm around her waist again. “Let’s rest a little longer. I’ll get up when you do.”

He knew she liked to stay in bed a little longer after silencing the rm.

Hadleyy still, dazed, her mind catching up.
