?Chapter 1426:
Eric sighed heavily in frustration.
Since when did he have such a chatterbox on his team?
He pulled the nket higher and shut his eyes. But no matter how many times he turned, sleep wouldn’te.
In the dark, the bodyguard was sprawled on the sofa, snoring like a chainsaw.
Eric sat up and flung the covers off.
Why did he have to put up with this? Unable to stand it, he got out of bed and slipped on his shoes.
“Mr. Scott?” The bodyguard stirred.
Professional bodyguards like them were trained to fall asleep anywhere—and wake at the slightest sound.
“Are you not feeling well again, sir?”
“Yes. I’m very ufortable!” Eric snapped, sneering. “Extremely ufortable.”
He stormed over to the door and yanked it open.
“Mr. Scott!” The bodyguard rushed after him, rmed. “Where are you going?”
“Don’t follow me!” Eric shot him a re. “Stay away from me!”<fn6872> Updates are released by Find_Novel(.</fn6872>
“Mr. Scott…” The guard looked helpless. “Miss Pearson said I’m not to let you out of my sight.”
“Gee!” Eric rolled his eyes and pointed to the room next door. “I’m going to see her now.”
He stopped in front of Hadley’s door.
Taking a breath, he gripped the knob and turned it gently. As expected, it wasn’t locked.
Typical Hadley. In case Joy needed her at night—or came looking early—she never locked her door.

It worked in his favor now.
He nced back at the guard. “Is there a problem if I sleep with Miss Pearson?”
Without waiting for an answer, he pushed the door open and slipped inside.
The room was dark.
Using the dim glow of his phone, he made his way toward the bed. Hadley was already asleep, curled on her side, wrapped snugly in the nket. Only her face was visible.
She looked calm. Peaceful.
Eric felt his frustration ease.
He stopped at the edge of the bed and whispered, “Hadley, can I sleep beside you?”
Of course, she didn’t answer.
He gave a silent, bitter chuckle. “No, right? That’d be too easy.”
If he crawled into her bed without her permission, he was asking for it. Eric got up and quietly made his way to the sofa. Sleeping there would have to do.
He was exhausted anyway.
