Chapter 1425

    ?Chapter 1425:

“Wait!” Hadley called out, pushing Eric away and quickly wiping her eyes.

Phillips turned back with an awkward smile.

She gave a small frown. “Has the caregiver arrived?”

“Not yet…” Phillips hesitated, ncing at Eric. “It’ste, and since this caregiver will be staying with Mr. Scott long-term, we need to vet their background carefully. We can’t risk his siblings taking advantage of the situation.”

“Then…” Hadley gestured to the bodyguard behind him. “What about him?”

“Well…” Phillips admitted, “I thought maybe he could stay with Mr. Scott tonight. Just for tonight.”

“That’s unnecessary.” Before Hadley could speak, Eric cut in with a scowl, eyeing the bodyguard. “I don’t need a babysitter to sleep.”

“Yes, you do.” Hadley tilted her head and red at him. She then looked at the bodyguard. “He’s yours tonight.”

“No problem, Miss Pearson.” The bodyguard nodded respectfully. Everyone here knew Hadley’s word carried more weight than Eric’s.

The bodyguard followed Eric into the room without hesitation. After his shower, Eric came out and spotted the man’s silhouette.

    Frustration bubbled up immediately.

Drying his hair, he narrowed his eyes.

“Mr. Scott.” The bodyguard straightened, alert and attentive.

Seeing Eric’s sour expression, he assumed the worst. “Are you feeling unwell again? Is your head hurting?”

“Yes,” Eric snapped. Of course it was.

“Oh no!” The bodyguard panicked, taking his words seriously. “What should I do? Should I call the doctor?”

After a brief pause, he added, “I should tell Miss Pearson first, right?” He turned to leave.

“Get back here!” Eric pressed a hand to his forehead, exasperated.

“Yes, Mr. Scott.” The bodyguard halted immediately. “What is it?”

Eric pointed toward the door, frustration written all over his face. “Get out.”

“I can’t do that.” The bodyguard shook his head. “Miss Pearson said you’re not to be left alone.”

He lowered his voice. “If you want me gone, you’ll have to tell her yourself.”

Even Eric wouldn’t dare cross Hadley—how could a bodyguard like himself?

Speechless, Eric dropped back onto the bed, yanked off the towel, and red at the man. In the end, he said nothing, turned over, and flopped onto his side.

“Mr. Scott?” The bodyguard hesitated. “Does your head still hurt? What are you doing?”

    Heavens!

Eric tugged the nket over his head. “Sleeping!”

What else would he be doing in bed thiste?

“Sleeping is good.” The bodyguard sighed in relief. “You should rest… Mr. Scott, is your headache better?”<fn168a> This text is hosted at find?novel</fn168a>
