Chapter 1347

    ?Chapter 1347:

“The oue is still uncertain. It’ll take a week, maybe up to ten days, for us to see whether the blood flow returns fully. For now, we’re in a critical window—especially during the first fifteen days after the surgery.”

When the doctor stopped speaking, a heavy silence followed.

Ferris shifted his gaze to Hadley, his expression hard to read. “Did you catch all that?”

“I did.” She gave a small nod, though the weight in her chest made it hard to breathe.

“Then listen carefully.” Ferris’ tone grew firmer. “You’re not leaving his side. I want you there when he wakes up. The first thing he sees should be you. Got that?”

“Yes.” Though her face tightened, Hadley didn’t argue.

Given the circumstances, there was no room for refusal.

Eric was moved into a hospital room not long after. Ferris checked in briefly and then left when it was clear Eric was still unconscious.

That left Hadley alone with him.

Oddly enough, the quiet feltforting. She pulled out her phone and called Phillips.<fn30ae> Get full chapters from F?ndNovel</fn30ae>

“It’s me. They’ve moved Eric to a room. Can you set things up to bring Joy over?”

Keeping them both nearby made sense. If Joy woke up distressed, Hadley could calm her down immediately without leaving Eric’s side.

    “I’ll take care of it.”

Paperwork was handled quickly, and not long after, Phillips arrived with Joy in his arms.

“Give her to me!” Cordell said cheerfully, cradling the sleeping child with care. “I want a turn holding her.”

Phillips looked around and asked, “Where’s Mr. Scott?”

“He’s in the room. Miss Pearson is with him,” Cordell answered, dropping his voice as he leaned in. “Old Mr. Scott has already given his blessing. If nothing goes wrong… she’ll be Mr. Scott’s wife before long.”

With Eric still unconscious, Hadley slipped away to check on Joy first.

Melba, who sat vigntly beside the little girl, looked up and whispered, “She’s still asleep, but she whimpers now and then.”

Joyy motionless on the bed, her tiny arms on either side of her head. Tears had left tracks down her round, chubby cheeks, and moisture still clung to her delicate eyshes.

Hadley gently sped the child’s small hand and exhaled softly. “She’s terrified.”

“Yeah,” Melba nodded, her face etched with concern.

Meanwhile, in the adjacent room, Eric’s eyelids fluttered open.

“Sir, you’re awake?” Phillips bolted from his chair, where he’d maintained his vigil by the bedside. “How are you feeling?”

Eric’s brow furrowed as his gaze drifted to his left arm, now swaddled in thickyers of pristine gauze.

The sterile hospital surroundings confirmed what he suspected—his surgery was already behind him.

Determined, he shook his head, leveraged himself up with his good arm, and yanked back the nket to swing his legs over the edge of the bed.

“Sir, what is it?” Phillips rushed forward, pressing a gentle but firm hand against his shoulder. “Let me help, or I’ll summon the nurse. You shouldn’t be getting up…”

Eric’s brow furrowed deeper, frustrationcing his voice. “I’m fine. Where’s Joy? Where’s Hadley? Are they somewhere in this hospital? I need to see them…”
