?Chapter 1101:
She hissed faintly when the needle made contact, the pain too sharp to bear.
“Does it hurt?” Eric’s jaw tightened as he red at the doctor. “She’s hurting!”
The doctor paused, exining, “I warned you it would sting. The anesthesia will kick in soon.”
“How soon is ‘soon’?” Eric snapped.
The doctor blinked, at a loss.
Eric was like an overprotective parent hovering over an injured child.
“Soon,” the doctor repeated.
Eric, unconvinced by the response, opened his mouth to press further.
“Eric!” Hadley flushed, yanking at his hand. “Quit causing a scene!” So humiliating!
She could hear the nurse stifling augh nearby!
Instead of being offended, Eric just looked at her, anxious. “How does it feel now? Is the anesthesia working? Does it still hurt?”
“It’s fine now!” Hadley’s tone was sharp—she wouldn’t let out another sound, no matter how much it stung!
“She’s okay now.” Eric exhaled, turning to the doctor. “Hurry and finish before the numbness fades—she can’t take more pain!”
“Right.”
The doctor gave a wry chuckle, took the needle and thread from the nurse, and started stitching. Two stitchester, it was over.
“Done.” The doctor set his tools aside and peeled off his gloves. “It’s a small wound and will heal fast. I’ll prescribe three days of antibiotics.”
“Okay.” Eric pointed to her forehead. “Will it leave a scar?”
“We used fine sutures, so it’s unlikely,” the doctor said. “If anything, it’ll be a faint mark. I can prescribe an anti-scar cream if you want.”
“Please do.” Eric looked at Hadley, his voice gentle. “Don’t worry—you won’t have a scar. I’ll make sure of it.”
After the procedure, Hadley’s hair was slightly disheveled.

Eric reached out to smooth it, his tone warm. “No matter what, you’ll always be stunning.”
Hadley’s pulse quickened.
Suddenly, she panicked. She quickly turned away, dodging his gaze. Leaving the treatment room, Eric picked up the meds and drove Hadley home.
Fearing he would say more, she shut her eyes and faked sleep as soon as she got in the car.
“Hadley?” Eric nced over, sighed, and held back his words. The car pulled away.
Hadley meant to keep up the act, but somehow, she actually dozed off. When they reached her ce, Eric parked and turned to her.
“Hadley, we’ve…”
He suddenly paused. Was she asleep?
Having shared a home before, he knew her telltale signs: when she slept, her lips pursed slightly, like now.
Her expression seemed a mix of irritation and yful teasing.
Eric smiled, leaning closer.
His nerves made his heartbeat loud in his ears.
