?Chapter 1097:
Sheughed softly and dismissed it with a wave of her hand. “It was nothing. Denver is a friend, and I couldn’t just stand by and watch him get hurt.”
“Indeed.” Marshall sighed, his expression somber. “Poor Denver has buried himself in worktely, trying to distract himself from his heartache. He’s turned into aplete workaholic. I think he still has feelings for you… He’s waiting—”
“Marshall,” Hadley quickly cut him off, not wanting to delve into personal matters. “I’ll head to the bathroom now.”
“Oh, alright.”
She turned and walked inside, unaware that someone had been trailing her the entire time.
That person was Astrid!
Just moments ago, she had overheard everything—every word of Hadley and Marshall’s conversation.
“Well, well! So that’s how it is!” Astrid’s eyes burned with rage. She clenched her jaw as she stared daggers into Hadley’s back. The second Marshall disappeared from view, she stormed after her.
Reaching the bathroom door, Astrid confronted Hadley with a surge of rage, grabbing her hair. “Hadley, you wretch! So you’re the one who ruined me!”
“Ouch…”
Startled, Hadley cried out as pain shot through her head, as though someone was ripping her entire scalp out!
She seized the assant’s wrist and shoved them back with force.
It was then she realized who it was—Astrid.
Upon rubbing her sore scalp, Hadley’s face disyed a blend of shock and fury. “What’s gotten into you? Have you lost your mind?”
“Me? Lost my mind?” Tears welled up in Astrid’s eyes, a fiery blend of hatred and sorrow, as she fixed a seething gaze on Hadley. “Tell me. Did you sabotage my rtionship with Denver?”
Hadley stopped for a moment.
With a mocking tone, she responded, “Were you hiding somewhere, listening to my chat with Marshall?”
“You!” Astrid didn’t reply but pointed usingly. “You wrecked my life! Hadley, you’re a thief and a cheat!”
Astrid moved to strike Hadley, but Hadley easily intercepted her arm, chuckling coldly.
“You’re the real cheat here, flirting around while using Denver and me of wrongdoing—you’re the one without shame!”
Hadley swiftly twisted her wrist, causing Astrid to lose her bnce and stumble backwards.
She had had enough and decided to walk away.
“Hadley!”
Astrid, determined not to let the matter drop, pursued Hadley.
“Leave me alone!” Whirling to face Astrid, Hadley’s eyes shed fiercely. “Cross my path again, and I’ll expose every scandal you’ve hidden!”
“You, you…” Struck dumb, Astrid’splexion shifted from flush to pale.
Hesitant, she halted her pursuit but noticed Hadley reaching the parking lot and pulling out her car keys.
There she was, getting into the BMW!
