?Chapter 1047:
“Mr. Scott isn’t here. He left for an international trip a few days ago and hasn’t returned,” the butler informed him.
Eric narrowed his eyes in disbelief. “Isn’t that convenient? You expect me to believe that? Is he hiding from me?” The butler maintained hisposure, stepping aside to allow Eric entry. “You may verify for yourself inside. Mr. Scott has dered you the rightful heir of the Scott estate. You have unrestricted ess, and no one here can bar your entry.” He stepped aside and opened the door with a polite gesture. After a moment’s hesitation, Eric stepped through the doorway. The silence of the empty house echoed around him. Ferris was indeed absent.
A bitterugh slipped from Eric’s mouth, and a sinister smile crept across his face as his eyes darkened with malice. There was no outlet. Eric’s fury kept building, swirling with the hatred festering inside him. Was Ferris deliberately avoiding him?
That absence only made one thing clear—Ferris was the one pulling the strings.
“You can deliver a message to him,” Eric said, his voice like steel. A strange gleam flickered in his eyes, dark andced with fire. “Tell him he can stop wasting his time. I’m never going back to the Scott family—no matter what game he ys.”
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Linda and Hadley arrived sequentially, drawn by the news of N’s condition.
First to arrive was Linda, her mobilitypromised, necessitating a wheelchair pushed by her caregiver. “What exactly happened? Is she alright?”
“She’s stable now,” Ernest responded, his face marked by worry. “She uncovered the truth about Eric’s lineage.”
“She knows?” Linda’s reaction was one of shock. “How did thate to light?”
With a sigh, Ernest exined about the anonymous delivery. “We’re still trying to figure out who sent it. Eric went after the lead.”
“I need to see N.”
“Go ahead…”
Hadley showed up a littleter. Since she lived over in Milnd Road, her trip had taken longer. Her timing coincided with Linda’s exit from the ward.
Their paths crossed at the entrance to the hospital room, exchanging nods of acknowledgment.

Inside, N was deep in slumber, the medication having taken effect. Once Hadley stepped out, she found Ernest still waiting in the corridor. He reassured Hadley, “She’s going to be fine. The doctor confirmed there’s nothing critically wrong. Now that you’ve seen her, I can arrange for your ride back.”
“Alright. Thanks.”
As Hadley made her way to the elevator, she was caught off guard to see Linda still lingering in the area. Upon noticing Hadley, Linda’s fingers clenched around the armrest of her wheelchair, her lips curling into a smug smile.
Ernest’s voice reyed in her mind. “She uncovered the truth about Eric’s lineage.”
With this newfound chaos surrounding Eric, any thoughts of marriage would surely be pushed to the sidelines.
A wave of relief washed over Linda, softening her smile. “Hadley, I was waiting for you.”
Waiting for her? The notion of Linda waiting didn’t sit well with Hadley, who braced herself for unpleasant news.
“I need to tell you something…” Linda’s eyes narrowed slightly, her smile turning frosty. “I’ve shared my feelings with Eric. I told him I wanted us to be together.”
Hadley stood in shock, her eyes darting to meet Linda’s gaze.
“Surprised?” Linda arched an eyebrow. “You must have suspected my feelings for him. Thest time I confessed, I said it was a joke, and Eric believed me. But you didn’t, did you?”
