Chapter 882

    ?Chapter 882:

    “Well, thank you.”

Elvin drove her to Milnd Road and stopped in front of her building. “Thanks again, Mr. Webster,” Hadley said as she stepped out, waving before closing the door. “Drive safe.”

“Hadley!” Just as she turned, Elvin hopped out of the car and hurried after her.

She turned back, startled. “You forgot your flowers,” he said with a grin, handing them over.

“Oh,” Hadley chuckled, epting them. “Thanks.”

Back in the driver’s seat, Elvin rolled down the window. “Take a look at the script when you have time. I’ll let you know when we’re doing a table read—probably in the next few days.”

“Will do,” she said, waving as he drove off.

Once his car disappeared down the street, Hadley turned toward the building.

But then she froze. Her heart skipped a beat.

Leaning silently against the wall near the entrance was Eric, staring at her intently.

Hadley frowned, her tone edged with irritation. “Could you not just stand there like that?”

Eric smirked, voiceced with jealousy. “Didn’t want to interrupt.” He had seen everything—Hadley stepping out of a car with a man. The guy looked to be in his early thirties. Not particrly handsome, average build. Just tall. But not as tall as Eric.

    Who was he?

Hadley didn’t keep a wide circle of friends. Eric had never seen this man before. And he gave her flowers?

Trying to sound casual, Eric asked, “Who was that?”

“A friend,” Hadley replied evenly, missing the edge in his voice. “You wouldn’t know him.”

    A friend?

Eric’s chest tightened with jealousy. What kind of friend gave a woman flowers and a ride home?

She was backte—had they had dinner, too?

He nced at the bouquet with disdain. “The flowers don’t even look fresh. Petals are drooping—cheap stuff…”

“What?” Hadley looked at him, baffled. “Eric, are you out of your mind?” Her reaction only fanned the mes of his jealousy.

“I’m just being honest. If some guy’s trying to impress you, he should at least get proper flowers. Cheap ones? That’s disrespectful. I don’t want you falling for empty gestures.”

“Eric!” Hadley snapped, her patience gone. “Enough! What are you even talking about? Can’t men and women be just friends? Or colleagues?”

    Eric’s eyes lit up slightly.

So the guy wasn’t courting her?

Still, he frowned. “Then why’d he give you flowers?”

“Why not?” Hadley huffed. “Only romantic partners can give each other flowers now? Elvin’s a director. I’m working on his production. The bouquet is from the team to wee me on board. Is that a problem?”

    Director? Production?
