Not long ago, Hawthorne had been herpdog. Now that he was fawning over someone else, she was instantly displeased.


    "How soon can I be discharged?"


    If it weren''t for Gwh, Patti Yale would have left this ce long ago. The young nurse looked surprised. "You could have been discharged days ago, Ms. Yale."


    She had heard that this Ms. Yale''s admission was arranged by a very powerful man, so the hospital staff wouldn''t dare rush her out unless she requested it herself.


    "What about Mrs. Everhart? When can she be discharged?"


    The young nurse replied with a professional smile. "You are both in our VIP wing. Your discharge dates are entirely up to you. Mrs. Everhart could have left already as well, but judging by Mr. Everhart''s instructions, it seems he wants her to stay for about another week."


    Another week? Patti Yale couldn''t wait that long. Now that the baby was gone, she felt a sense of relief and lightness. She regretted not getting rid of it sooner. In hindsight, she could have had the abortion and then simply lied about still being pregnant, avoiding the disastrous mess she''d made for herself.


    Patti couldn''t wait a week, especially since she could be discharged in just three days. Every day in the hospital cost a fortune, and she was in a VIP suite. Although she had the five million from Hawthorne, she felt it wasn''t nearly enough. Renting a house outside would be cheaper than a single day here; she could just get a smaller vi.


    On the day of her discharge, Patti Yale sent a message to Gwh.


    "Mrs. Everhart, if you don''t mind, I''d like to meet. There''s something I need to tell you."


    At that moment, Patti had no idea that Gwh already knew about her and Hawthorne''s scheme. She was still clinging to a sliver of hope, driven by the bitter thought that if she couldn''t have Hawthorne, no other woman could either.


    Meanwhile, Gwh had received an unexpected visitor at the hospital.


    Victoria Turner had arrived.


    The moment her mother pushed open the door, Gwh was so stunned she thought she was dreaming.


    "Mom? What are you doing here?"


    Gwh never imagined her mother woulde all the way to Greenvale. Seeing her daughter lying in a hospital bed, Victoria''s heart clenched with pain.


    "How did you end up in the hospital? What happened?" Victoria asked, her voice tight with worry. She had been tracking the news about Gwh and flew over from Starfall City th moment she heard about the hospitalization.

    Leonie had just returned home, leaving Gwh alone in the room, bored and flipping between the TV and her phone. Seeing Victoria, Gwh froze. She hadn''t even told her room about the pregnancy now she''d been caught red handed. She felt a wave of embarrassment, but Victoria didn''t seem to care. Her eyes went straight to Gwh''s prominent belly, and she pulled her into a joyful hug, pressing her ear against it.


    "Oh, my heavens! You''re finally pregnant! I''m going to have grandchildren! Two of them!"


    Gwh didn''t know whether tough or cry at her mother''s excitement. She had expected a scolding, not this unbridled joy.


    "By the way, how are things with you and Hawthorne? Have you two made up yet?"


    Gwh shot her a suspicious look. Victoria suddenly realized she''d said too much, and a guilty expression flickered across her face.


    "You knew Hawthorne and I were fighting?"


    Her mother''s reaction told her everything. Gwh narrowed her beautiful eyes. Victoria nervously tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.


    "Well, I wasn''t entirely clear on the details. I just knew... a little."


    A nervous chuckle escaped Victoria''s lips. She had a bad feeling her cover was about to be blown. Gwh repeated her words slowly.


    "How much is ''a little''?"


    Gwh''s eyes were sharp with suspicion. Victoria forced a smile. "Just a tiny bit more than a little. Oh, let''s not talk about this."


    But Gwh wasn''t letting her off the hook. "When did you find out we were arguing? Or did you know all along?"


    Seeing that she couldn''t hide it any longer, Victoria confessed. "I noticed something was off between you two back in Starfall City, but it''s your rtionship, and as your mother, I didn''t want to interfere."


    Gwh realized what that implied. Victoria must have had someone watching them.


    "Trust me, Mom had no ill intentions.
