Dahlia couldn''t believe what she had just heard. She stared at Dominic in
disbelief, struggling toprehend the situation.
Jordan''s eyes twitched as he saw his n falling apart.
He had thought Dominic was a gentleman. He was supposed to protect her. Even
if he didn''t want her to sit on hisp, at the very least, he should have gotten her a chair.
But all of that went out the window when Dominic told her she could sit on the floor beside him like a dog.
The room fell into awkward silence.
It was as if an actor had gone off-script, ruining the plot of the y. Everyone else froze, unable to carry on their roles.
Vespera was proud of the ultimateeback her boss had made. She silently let out a relieved
sigh.
For a moment, she had thought Dominic might have fallen for Dahlia. To be honest, if he had fallen for Jordan''s trick and epted her, all she could do as his secretary was y along and
mourn hisck of willpower.
Dahlia stood there, her legs trembling.
"Ms. Cross, get Dahlia a chair," Jordan ordered with a hint of frustration.
Serena quickly hurried over and grabbed a chair. Then, she diligently ced it between Jordan and Dominic''s seats. With a warm smile, she guided Dahlia to her seat.
Atst, Dahlia sat down. Her knees were tightly pressed together, both hands in herp, like a good student."
Her behavior waspletely different from the other nine women, who oozed charm and seduction. But this might have only mattered in the eyes of men.
Aside from Ser, Vespera could tell the other eight women were being honest. Their dismissiveness wasn''t an act.
She could almost hear them cursing Dahlia out for acting all innocent, making them look like sluts inparison.
Eventually, the others resumed chatting and sipping their wine.
Dominic, meanwhile, seemed to have forgotten all about Dahlia.
Jordan was secretly worried his n had failed. He wanted to hint to Dominic that
he could take Dahlia back to his vi if he wanted.
But after thinking it through, he knew that wouldn''t work. Dominic was an
entric man. He would have refused without hesitation.
All he was certain about was that Dominic was interested in Dahlia. If he wasn''t,
he wouldn''t have stared at her when she was outside.
"Mr. Aldridge, what''s the deal with this one?" Dominic asked yfully, swirling his ss.
Jordan pped hisp in excitement. "Oh, you mean Dalilia? Her story is quite pitiful," he
began.
"She''s the daughter of one of my subordinates. She''s a good kid, but her father died in a car crash a few years ago. Her mother is sick, and her brother is nothing but trouble.
"She just started collegest year. To pay for her tuition, she had to work. At the same time, she had to take care of her mother. But then, her mother''s illness worsened suddenly, and she needed 20 thousand dors for surgery. That''s why she had to..."
Jordan sighed as he finished his story, a hint of pity in his voice.
Dahlia''s face flushed. Her head drooped even lower as Jordan exined her situation to
Dominic.
As Vespera listened to their conversation, she had a hunch that Serena might have been the true mastermind behind the entire plot.
Picture a dead father, a sick mother, and a burdensome brother-on top of all that, a poor girl who was desperate for money to pay for surgery. In such desperate times, the only choice was to sell her purity.
Vespera concluded that this might be the perfect form for sess. If all these conditions were met, Dahlia could win over any man, no matter his status. Even better, she could have them wrapped around her finger.
She wondered if Dominic had already figured it out and felt slightly anxious that he might have fallen for it.
Everyone remned nonchnt, but their ears were pricked, waiting to see how Dominic would react.
"I''m guessing..." Dominic began, his voice trailing off, his brow furrowing.
Jordan looked at him eagerly, secretly celebrating his sess. Dominic was about to "rescue" Dahlia. He thought that he had seen through Dominic''s act and figured out his true intentions.
"This bottle of wine must have cost you millions, Dominic finished.
"What?"
Jordan was surprised by the sudden detour into a conversation about wine. Clliper 153
"It''s a shame how despicable people like us are," Dominic said, setting the bottle of wine
down on the coffee table. His expression was full of remorse as he added, "This bottle of wine could have saved her multiple times."
