Seeing the state James was in, Mirabe offered, "Let me drive."
James looked like he hadn''t caught much sleeptely. Without a second thought, he handed her the keys, then settled himself into the passenger seat.
Mirabe gave the keys a quick twirl around her fingers before sliding into the driver''s seat. Once the engine roared to life, they left the hospital behind in no time.
About thirty minutester, Mirabe parked in James''s garage, turned off the engine, and nced over at James. With his eyes closed, he seemed to be catching some much-needed rest, so she let him be for the moment.
Her gaze must have lingered on his face because it wasn''t long before he opened his eyes, and they seemed fully alert, without a hint of sleepiness.
Mirabe coolly looked away, unbuckled her seatbelt, and gently said, "We''re here."
James lifted an eyebrow, unbuckled his seatbelt, and stepped out of the car. They walked into the house one after the other.
As Mirabe browsed a food delivery app on her phone, she said without looking up, "You should get some rest. I''ll wake you when lunch arrives."
"Alright," James replied, removing his coat to reveal a thermal shirt underneath.
After cing the order, Mirabe noticed a hint of antiseptic in the air, prompting her to ask, "Did you get hurt?"
"Just a scratch," James shrugged it off. But after a pause, he asked, "Could you help me change the dressingter?" pointing to his lower back.
Mirabe nced in the direction he pointed but didn''t say anything.
Sensing her hesitation, James quickly added, "Just kidding, I can handle it."
He gave Mirabe a quick pat on the head, retrieved a first aid kit from a cab in the side hall, and headed upstairs.
Mirabe tilted her head, watching until James disappeared at the top of the stairs, then finally decided to follow him up.
James went straight to his room, ced the first aid kit on the table, picked out some clean clothes and headed into the bathroom for a quick wash.
Just as he was about to remove the bandage around his waist, there was a knock at the door.
He paused, looked at the bathroom
towesitated, then wrapped a
d his waist before
opening the door slightly.
"Just checking if you needed help?" Mirabe asked, her face showing nothing
but genuine concern.
James coughed, feeling a bit awkward, "I''m okay for now."
"Alright, just call if you need anything," Mirabe said, turning to leave.
James''s cheeks flushed slightly, and after a moment, he gently closed the door.
Being a gentleman isn''t easy.
The sound of the shower filled the room.
Mirabe sat at theputer desk, waiting for him toe out, while she took out her phone.
She opened Messenger and sent a quick message to Cassandra.
A couple of minutes ticked by, and just when Mirabe thought
message might not go the the et
reply popped up.
Y: "The satellite base in the vige had a glitch. It''s too advanced for me to fix, so I just rebooted it."
Y: "Didn''t expect the reboot to wipe all the previous data. Emmitt had a tough time fixing it."
Y: "What''s up? Why the sudden message?"
