Celeste and Trevor walked out, side by side. When they reached her car, Trevor spoke first. "Do you have time Monday morning?"
Celeste was just about to say yes when he continued, "Jo''s school is holding a parents'' meeting. The school requires both parents to attend."
Celeste paused for a moment. "Alright."
After that, she added, "I can also take leave in the afternoon."
"I have to go to Havenport at one in the afternoon."
Celeste frowned. "Can''t you change the time?"
Trevor replied, "Sorry."
Celeste pressed her lips together and didn''t say anything. She turned around and got into the car.
Trevor looked at her. "Drive safe."
Before he could finish, Celeste shut the car door with a sharp bang, then stepped on the elerator and drove off.
Trevor watched as her car disappeared from view. The corners of his lips curved into a faint smile, and he turned back into the house.
It was already quitete. Martha had gone back to her room to rest, but Queenie and Teagan were still in the living room.
After Trevor nodded to them in greeting, he said he needed to return a call and went upstairs.
Queenie watched his retreating figure, as if she wanted to call out to him, but in the end, she said nothing.
Teagan asked, "What''s wrong?"
Queenie shook her head and didn''t answer.
If Trevor were divorcing Celeste in order to marry Wynn, she would rather he not divorce at all.
After all, pared to Wynn, Celeste came from a respectable, clean family background. Although she had used some unsavory means in the past to be with Trevor, inparison, Queenie disliked Wynn even more.
But she also knew that even if she tried to persuade him, Trevor wouldn''t listen.
Whatever he wanted to do now, no one in the family, including her husband, Lincoln, could stop him.
Seeing the way her mother was frowning, Teagan understood what she was worried about.
She said, "From a man''s perspective, I can understand why Trevor would choose Wynn."
As a woman herself, she also felt that Wynn was indeed quite charming-let alone in the eyes of a man.
Queenie rubbed her temples and remained silent.
She and Trevor weren''t particrly close, but subconsciously, she felt that he was someone who would find it very difficult to truly fall in love with anyone.
Wynn shouldn''t be his type either.
Yet Trevor''s feelings and attitude toward Wynn had gone beyond what she thought she knew about him.
The next morning, Celeste went with Betty and the rest of the family to the hospital to visit Isabelle.
Isabelle''s condition had been fairly stabletely.
After the visit, just as Celeste and
Betty were leaving the hospital Celeste received a call from Jordyn. Gontent
"Mom, where are you? Dad and I are already at Granny''s ce. Why isn''t anyone home?"
Jordyn hadn''t mentioned that she would being over that morning.
Celeste didn''t bring that up. She only asked, "Your dad came with you?"
"Yes. But Dad just dropped me off. He still has social engagementster."
Before Celeste could respond, Jordyn asked again, "Mom, where did you go? When are youing back?"
"I just came out of the hospital. I''m heading back now. Wait—"
Jordyn cried out in rm and quickly asked with concern, "You were at the hospital? Mom, are you sick?"
"No. I went to the hospital to visit your grandmother."
After chatting a little more, Celeste hung up the phone.
When Trevor heard that Celeste had been at the hospital, he seemed to know what she had gone there for.
After Jordyn ended the call, he didn''t ask about Celeste''s hospital visit at all. He simply reminded Jordyn of few things then got into the car left.
