?Chapter 1469:
“Some of my guys tried pulling something on Jessica a while back,” Jack said smoothly, making it sound like a campfire horror story. “That man showed up and ttened all of them by himself. Amara’s staff is probably just scared of trouble.”
The group blinked at each other. Amara was owned by serious money. Would they really be scared of one guy?
“If that’s all, I’m hanging up,” Jack cut in sharply, clearly bored of the whole thing. “Busy here.”
Before they could argue, the line went dead.
The girls exchanged ufortable looks. None of it made sense, but without a better exnation, they had to settle for that. At least for now.
Meanwhile, inside the restaurant, Melvin and Jessica sat at their table, enjoying the quiet elegance.
Jessica looked around at the refined interior, the warm golden light reflecting off the polished wood. Her eyes sparkled. She had always loved ces like this—grand, full of stories, and carrying a sense of timelessness.
“Think they’re gonna start snooping around to figure out who you are?” Jessica teased, swirling her wine.
Melvin gave her a baffled nce. “Why would they care?”
“You walked in here like you owned the ce. Of course they’ll be curious,” Jessica said with a faintugh. She could already imagine the rumors.
Melvin didn’t blink. “Let them dig. It’s not my problem.”
The meal was divine—better than she expected. Now she understood why the restaurant only served three tables a night. Every dish that arrived was like a work of art—beautiful, fresh, and bursting with vor. If she had to wait half a year to eat here again, she wouldn’tin.
By the time the clock crept past eight, they had finished dinner and stepped outside to retrieve their car, only to spot the same familiar group lingering by the entrance.
Seeing them, Melvin lifted an eyebrow. Seriously? They had waited this whole time?
“How about we grab a drink somewhere else and catch up?” N walked over, still wearing that same fake-friendly smile. “It’s been ages since we’ve talked properly.”
???? ??????? ?? ?????????.???
“Not interested,” Jessica replied tly, her eyes sharp.
“I don’t think you want me sharing those funny college stories with your boyfriend here, do you?” N’s smile sharpened. “A friend of mine went to school with you. Told me some wild things.”
Jessica frowned slightly. “What stories are you talking about?”
“You really don’t know, or are you just pretending?” N’s voice dropped lower, full of that mean-girl sweetness. “What happened with those upperssmen. I know all of it.”
At that, Jessica’s expression shifted. Realization flickered behind her eyes, but it wasn’t shame—just mild annoyance.
“Rx. We’re just here to reconnect. And hey, we should get to know your boyfriend too,” N said, curling her lips into a slow smirk. “Pure curiosity, nothing else.”
