Chapter 1468

    ?Chapter 1468:

N’s eyes gleamed with curiosity. “Then how did they get in?”

“Think her boyfriend’s someone important?” N’s rented date chimed in, narrowing his eyes as if Melvin’s face stirred some faint recognition.

“Since when do sessful men look like that? Young, good-looking, and thoughtful?” N scoffed with a dryugh. In her mind, a woman like Jessica, who had been single for decades, could nevernd a man of that caliber. “Even if someone like that exists, he’d never waste his time on her.”

The group fell silent, unsure how to respond.

As annoying as N sounded, she wasn’t entirely wrong. There were plenty of rich heiresses out there—the three of them included. In their eyes, Jessica was no better than they were.

“Why don’t we just go ask?” Rena Payne suggested, tilting her chin toward the staff by the entrance.

It was a bold idea. Unfortunately, bold didn’t equal effective.

When they wandered over to question the staff, they got nothing but polite, empty pleasantries. Not a hint of information about Melvin. The three of them deted like balloons pricked by pins.

“Call Jack Bowman,” another girl, Bianca Price, said slyly, eyes sparkling with mischief. “Didn’t he go on that blind date with Jessica? He should know something.”

Hearing that, N stepped aside and pulled out her phone, her thumb already swiping to Jack’s number.

Jack, who was currently getting an earful at home, suddenly straightened like it was a work emergency. “It’s a friend. I need to take this.” Phone in hand, he ducked out of the room, eyes shing with relief.

When he saw N’s name on the screen, he hesitated for a beat before answering.

“Did you know Jessica’s got a boyfriend now?” N asked, drawing the words out slow, like honey dripping from a spoon.

“Yeah,” Jack answeredzily, pacing the stone path in his garden. “Why?”

“His name is Melvin Swain. You know him?” N nced at her friends as she spoke, gauging their reactions.

“Melvin Swain?” Jack’s tone suddenly sharpened, guarded. “Why are you asking about him?”

“She announced their rtionship online yesterday, so we told her to bring him with her today,” N exined smoothly, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “We saw him, but I’ve got to say, the guy’s terrible.”

Jack frowned, more confused than ever. What did that have to do with him? He wasn’t close to Melvin.

“He had us meet them outside Amara Kitchen,” N pressed on. “Then he and Jessica just walked right in like royalty. We can’t even get in there without a reservation. So how’d he manage it?”

Jack nced down at the ground, wondering how he’d gotten dragged into this. But thinking of all the times N had set him up at parties, he decided to have a little fun himself.

“What do you think? Probably scared them into it.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Rena chimed in, curiosity ring.
